A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Being productive when I woke up too early – I did a strength workout, and made my second Instagram Reel (inserted below all the sub bullets). A few things about Reels:
- I really enjoy mindlessly scrolling Reels for entertainment, and don’t mind that they’re on Instagram.
- I’d never made one because I thought the technology was beyond me. It’s not. I mean, I’m not making sophisticated stuff, but I could figure it out.
- The growth on my rock account really slowed down, so I am trying Reels to see if that helps. (Why do I care about growth there? I’m really not sure. It’s not like I want more commissions. I guess I just want more attention!) So far it’s not helping, but I’m having fun.
- My first Reel was simple and took seconds to make and somehow, has had thousands of views, compared to the new ones, which have less views than I have followers. Confusing. Maybe the music you use helps? Or using hashtags (which I almost never do).
- Anyway, it’s been fun. Here’s a link to my third one, and fourth one.
- My doctor’s appointment going better than I thought it would.
- Redeeming two free items at Bath & Body Works. They had fall stuff out! Am I mad about it? No.
- Christina sharing another free Starbucks with me!
- Seeing the ducks and roosters at the post office.
- Getting a fast ride in.
- An awesome mail day – a rock I won on Instagram, Shitterfly magnets, new paint markers, and a gift for a friend.
- Dinner with Steven, Bobbi, and John at El Famous, then showing them the new warehouse after. Steven is moving his business next weekend! Exciting!
Saturday
- Feeling great on my run!
- Seeing a rock hiding friend, Sandi, on the run.
- Working on a rock commission.
- A nap.
- The awesome illustration I ordered arriving from Etsy (by artist Rachel Baum), then going to pick out a frame for it together. And stopping at Fresh Thyme and getting a bunch of fun groceries.
Check out Rachel’s Etsy shop here
- Checking another Aldi for the vegan falafel and it being in stock! (Aldi has “Aldi Buys” which are limited edition things they sell and once they are gone, they’re gone. One of the Aldi Buys this week was vegan falafel, and I wanted to get some (like, several boxes), but when I went to a different Aldi on Friday, they only had one box in one flavor.)
- Renting a funny movie (we’d seen before) –Β Keeping up with the Joneses.
Sunday
- Getting a fast long ride in.
- Making another Reel for this week.
- Finally vacuuming the house! Oops. Put that off for two long.
- Grilling a late lunch.
- Using another free Starbucks from Snis.
- Getting another rock commission done.
- Watching the new Jason Statham movie –Β Wrath of Man.
Lowlights
- A really horrible work meeting Friday am that got me all worked up before a dr appointment. (It was for the project I had to keep from my old position.)
- Spending so much time packaging rocks to mail on Friday. Why does it take me so long?!
I love your reels! I’ve seen that using popular music def. helps “boost” it in the algo. But all that matters is that you’re having fun. π
Thanks! And thanks for that tip! I am trying that out. And I am having a lot of fun, surprisingly.
Are we making a “they see me rollin’, they hatin'” Reel on the golf cart next week?
OOOH, I did not know you have started making Reels. You’re a big time influencer now! Sometimes I think about trying to make a Reel for the cats account, but then I get lazy, lol.
That illustration is BEAUTIFUL! I’m going to have to check out her Etsy shop!
I’m sorry about the horrible work meeting. That’s no way to end the week! π
I totally am, π Ha!!! You know, they are actually not that hard and there is tons of cat focused music. Let me know if you want me to start sending you some that I hear. When you are watching a Reel you can click on the music to use it and record your own! I made a super cute one (well, I think) with the cats for tomorrow.
Thanks! I totally thought of you when I ordered mine.
It really worked me up. My snis was so sweet and actually send me a Starbucks giftcard to treat myself before she realized she had freebies on her account I could use. That helped!
Man, those awful work meetings – particularly for old projects you’d rather see condemned to the dustbin of past jobs – stink. Sorry you had a crappy one and that it threw your day off. But yay for other good things this weekend! Mmm, falafel. I have Aldi Anxiety though so would not have taken advantage even if I had known. π
Right! Gah. And it’s still ongoing. UGH JUST GO AWAY.
What is your Aldi anxiety? Not knowing what to do? Or feeling like you have to move fast at checkout?
