A few highlights from the weekend!
Thursday
- Chatting with Lorena during a mani/pedi.
- Finding a new swimsuit coverup.
- Garlicky pasta with broccoli and soy curls for dinner.
- Getting two rock commissions via recommendations. The first one is so cute – my nephew (who just visited) showed his mom the dog rocks I’ve painted and she commissioned one. The other was a recommendation from Rachel’s coworker who ordered one. And both have excellent photos of their dogs, yay! (I’ve gotten some not great photos and have had to guess about what dogs look like and I’m just not good at it)
Friday
- Beautiful weather on my long ride and feeling good on it.
- Someone leaving a surprise for me on my car (painted rocks!).
- Getting a commission done that I’ve been putting off since May 22. Oops.
- Finishing a good book – The Boy Who Runs: The Odyssey of Julius Achon.
- My Shitterfly magnet order arriving.
- Getting vegan ice cream and walking to the lighthouse and along the beach in Kenosha at sunset with Steven.
- Staring the new Taylor Jenkins Reid book, Malibu Rising.
Saturday
- Discovering I have swimsuits that still fit me. This was causing me a lot of anxiety. I’m relieved I don’t need to look for a bigger one for beach time this month!
- Feeling good enough to RUN!
- Feeling better after venting to my snis about something.
- Getting more commission work done.
- Working on the 2,000 piece puzzle my family started last weekend with Steven.
- Watching a really bad movie (The Ice Road) and eating yummy pasta.
Sunday
- Waking up feeling really happy I still had two days off work.
- Finally dropping off some trade rocks I’ve had completed and sitting in our foyer forever.
- Feeling strong on my bike ride… until the end when I felt thirsty and hungry.
- Redeeming my free stars at Starbucks for a huge iced chai.
- Winning a rock on Instagram!
- Eating a really great grilled lunch – seitan ribs, burgers, fries, and broccoli.
- Finishing the huge puzzle my family started last weekend.
- Watching Independence Day and working on rock commissions.
Monday
- Going back to bed after I woke up too early.
- Hearing my suggested book being used on the Currently Reading Listener Press podcast episode.
- Feeling fast on my road bike. I’ve been sticking to the mountain bike on the trails because it’s safer than riding alone on the road, but I’ll be riding my road bike for RAGBRAI so I took it out and felt fast… when I wasn’t riding into the wind.
- Remembering I had chocolate mint cookies in the freezer when I wanted something sweet after lunch.
- Taking a nap.
- Finishing Malibu Rising.
Lowlights
- Ha, oh my gosh. Saturday morning was such a comedy of errors. I gouged my forehead with my thumb when I put on my sports bra (that’s the red mark in the photos above). I accidentally put my towel for my outdoor strength workout on an ant hill. My protein powder (it expired in April 2020, but hey, you never know) was full of bugs. FUUUUUUUUUUUN.
Looking Back
- I was trying to remember what I spent the last 4th of July doing and it was working on that job application I didn’t even get a second interview for. Blah! I wasted so many weekends on that last summer! I guess I shouldn’t say waste, because all the prep got me ready to interview for a job I like A LOT MORE, and it’s not like I had anything better to do last summer, but blah. I am glad that is now how I spent this weekend!
So glad your knee is feeling better- yay! Let me know how you like the book… it’s in my “to read “ list! Miss you:)
Yes! I can go on walks again! Let’s schedule one!
I really enjoyed the new TJR book. I will read anything she writes! I loved the character building and family drama, especially.
Miss you too!
Aww, yay for all the dog rocks! Violet thinks she must have started a trend 😉
I saw the picture of you two in Kenosha and remembered the time we went up there and everyone was OBSESSED with finding Pokemon (or whatever that was).
I’m glad your knee is doing better and letting you run again!
She definitely did!
I always think about that whenever I go up there too. That was so bizarre!
Thanks, me too! Yesterday I tested it out and ran a mile 🙂
Hehe, I had the same thought when I woke up on Sunday! I was like, “Two more days of weekend!” It’s so nice having a Monday off.
So fun to hear you on Currently Reading! Your voice is really soothing, too. I could listen to you talk about books all day!
Wasn’t it? And it’s so so nice to have a short work week.
Aww thanks so much. That is such a sweet compliment 😀 😀 😀 Did you notice I just read what I wrote on my review here? HA!
Yay for reading! And running! And winning a rock! (Think how weird that would have sounded even 2 years ago… what do you mean you *won a rock*? Who wants to win… a rock? LOL)
Also yay for being featured on the podcast! I don’t listen but that’s so cool.
PS – Favorite vegan burger to eat at home? Favorite soy curls? Do share if you can… 🙂
Ha, right? I never imagined I would be into it!
I love the Beyond Burgers, or Impossible. And we use Butler Soy Curls when we have them! What is your fave vegan burger for home?
