A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Two people telling me they heard my “I am the Drive” spot.
- Hanging out with Gina, Steve, Luca, and their dog Ginger at their place in Guttenberg, Iowa.
- Going on a beautiful sunset walk in nice cool weather.
- Getting another rock commission.
- The adorable pictures the cat sitter, Jessie, gets of our cats. How does she do it?!
Saturday
- Having time in the morning to work on that rock commission – it was for a birthday tomorrow!
- Going to the Guttenberg Farmers Market. It was hopping! We got lots of goodies to try. And I saw a guy wearing a cat shirt that said “Pew Pew Pew” on it, and that made me laugh since we call Starbuck “Pew Pew” (and yes… I told him that).
- Hiding one of the painted rocks my friend from Germany sent. Someone found it right away and re-hid it, then Gina found it later! Funny!
- A golf cart ride on Christina and Will’s new golf cart.
- My nephew William giving me a big hug each time he saw me.
- Giving my snis a rock I painted her, and Snis giving me some cute little chairs she picked up for me, and some candy, and a porcelain cat.
- Grilling lunch and eating outside in the warm sun. We had perfect weather the entire time we were in Guttenberg.
- Taking a much needed nap. Lowlight – waking up feeling drunk because I was so exhausted (I hadn’t drank anything!).
- Hiding rocks that I brought with Steven, Christina, Luca, and William.
- My friend Dave2 posting about the cat rocks I painted him on Facebook and getting interest for another commission.
- A yummy enchilada dinner.
Sunday
- A walk with Dad.
- Going on a golf cart ride and seeing a plane land on Abel Island (perfect timing!), then playing at the park.
- Getting to see my maternal grandmother.
- Having one-on-one time to chat with Gina while the boys were at the golf range.
- Dinner at my snister’s with her family and Mom and Dad. We had lots of guac and drinks, ate walking tacos, then went on a golf cart ride, and came back and watched a bit of a movie (Steven loved the kids sitting with him to watch). There were lots of jokes, fun conversation, signing up for RAGBRAI (whuuuuuuuuuuut?!?!?!?!), and a beautiful sunset.
- Giving my mom her early birthday present.
Monday
- Ugh, Monday was a lost cause because I woke up with a major headache and didn’t feel good until we left to go home. I wasted our last day. I think I will take a break from drinking for a while (I had three drinks Sunday and tired to stay hydrated but my body just doesn’t like alcohol).
- Steven driving the entire way home.
- Getting home and having a new toy in the mail for the cats from TacoCat Creations.
- Seeing a deer by the new trees in the yard.
- Doing laundry and putting away my stuff. I love unpacking.
Lowlights
- The way Wisconsin does their construction – setting up cones for miles and miles of construction even though they’re only working on a small section at a time. Gah, this makes me bonkers.
- My knee starting to hurt Saturday am. Womp.
- Spending most of Monday am in bed and not being able to enjoy our grilled burger lunch because I felt like I was going to throw up.
It was so good to spend the weekend with you Snist! Feel so bad you didn’t feel well Monday. We will do virgin daiquiris next time! 🙂 Love you!
It really was! We had a lot of fun with you guys. Can’t wait to come back, and yes, do virgin drinks apparently. Sigh. Love you too!!!!
