A few highlights from the weekend!
Thursday
- Finishing a rock commission for my good friend Courtney.
- A massage.
- A coffee date with Bobbi. It was so nice to sit and chat!
- Yummy leftovers for dinner.
Friday
- Finally getting some much needed rain.
- Lifting then riding my bike.
- Prepping rocks to paint at Tricia’s.
- A nap.
- El Famous for dinner and part of Fast & Furious 6.
- Bobbi stopping by with a surprise present! She crocheted me this adorable succulent! I can’t get over how cute it is.
- Painting at Tricia’s. She invited me over to try some paint pens from a brand I hadn’t tried before, and I brought a bunch of mine for her to try!
Saturday
- Getting my long ride in despite not getting a lot of sleep. And mostly enjoying it!
- Meeting Kathie and Kristi for coffee. I had to switch two walk dates to coffee dates this week and I am so grateful my friends are flexible! We had a wonderful time catching up.
- Going to Madison with Steven! We went to check out a pop-up vegan festival.
- Meeting Meagan and Dave from TacoCat Creations in person! I knew they’d have a booth at the festival, but Meagan had posted Dave would run it while she was at another event, but long story long, she ended up coming and we got to chat with them and it was so fun!
- Trying a vegan restaurant. It was so so, but it’s fun to try. It was actually a place that had a truck at the festival but we waited in line for 40 mins and it probably would have been another hour so we decided to order and pick it up and eat at the park.
- Going to a stationary-esque shop I’ve been wanting to check out in downtown Madison. I got my first washi tapes!
- Watching a new (but horrible) movie at home – Voyagers.
Sunday
- Being lazy in the morning and finishing a book.
- Breakfast sandwiches.
- Finally getting some baby trees planted… kind of. We ordered some small trees to plant and first we got the wrong trees, then we got the right ones but they were damaged, then we finally got the right ones undamaged. But by the time we got them it was too late to get back into the woods to place them (because of all the brush) then there were so many freaking hot weekends in a row… long story long we made a little nursery for them today. And it was hot enough I felt ill and dizzy but some clouds and a breeze finally came out.
- Seeing a sun dog.
- Prepping produce for the week – this week will be busy with training each day and I wanted that done.
- Pasta Alfredo for dinner and finishing Fast & Furious 6.
- Khali being snuggly during a thunderstorm. And more rain, yay!
What’s a sun dog?
It’s a line you see on both sides or around the sun. I think it might actually have been a halo that I saw, oops! I included a picture of it in the bottom middle of my collage. Have you seen one before?
Here is the google explanation: Sundogs are an optical phenomenon in which a pair of mock suns appear on either side of the sun. These spots form along a halo that appears to encircle the sun. This is an optical phenomenon caused by the refraction of sunlight on flat, hexagonal ice crystals (or diamond dust) found high in the sky in cirrus clouds.
DIAMOND DUST!
How have I lived so long without knowing this?! Very, very cool. And now I will be looking for one!
I got so distracted by the sun dog that I forgot to comment on the rest of your post, LOL. How fun that you got to meet Mr. and Mrs. Taco Cat!! And also, do you ever want to snap off those polished fingernails on the sample dealie? They remind me of old-school toys where you’d have to snap off parts to play with them. Probably a good thing I don’t get manicures…I’d be banned from the salon, LOL.
I just learned what they were called in the past few years! I hope you get to see one – it’s cool!
Yes! I was so excited we got to meet them! We definitely want to hang out with them again.
Ha! I never thought about that but now I will be tempted. They totally look like pieces from a model kit!
Wowwww, thank you for the explanation about sun dogs in the previous comment! I was going to ask about them, too. What a cool phenomenon and now I’ll know what to look for!
I’m so excited that you got to meet Tacocat Creations! Meagan seems like such a cool person (of course she does – she makes cat toys for a living!) and I’m glad you got more things to bring home to the kitties. π
You’re welcome! I hope you see one! They’re so cool! And kill your eyes to look at them. Ha.
YES! She and Dave are so cool! I hope we can meet up and hang out this summer or fall. All cats need more TacoCat Creations all the time! Khali just loves the mat and mew mice!
I am so glad you enjoyed the vegan pop up event! Is that where the sandwich that looks like it’s on pumpernickel bread came from? And if so, what restaurant was it? You know me, always picking your brain about vegan eats! π
Also, that’s just so cool about sun dogs. Thanks for sharing that!
The sandwich was from a place that had a truck at the event but we went to the shared kitchen and got their takeout – it’s called Just Veggiez. Nothing was very remarkable and I don’t recommend it! LOL. There are better places in Madison for vegan food like Green Owl Cafe and Monty’s Blue Plate Diner:)
You’re welcome!
