A few highlights from the weekend!
Thursday
I didn’t have a three-day weekend but need to share some fun Thursday highlights!
- Seeing Lorena for a manicure.
- Finding two cool molded rocks on my run.
- A phone call with Mom.
- A friend sharing the name they selected for their new baby.
Friday
- Sleeping soundly.
- Breakfast sandwiches by Steven.
- Having no meetings and using the day to catch up and re-listen to informational meetings from the last two weeks.
- Apollo keeping me company while I worked.
- Seeing a groundhog in the yard.
- A walk with Kathie and Kristi after work, and Kristi surprising me with a cute children’s book about painted rocks!
- Getting a hot Starbucks when I felt cold.
- El Famous for dinner.
- Finishing watching a movie I loved in high school – Save the Last Dance.
- Homemade milkshakes.
Saturday
- Working on a new style of rocks (rocks with paper as part of the design).
- Going for a run.
- Being productive even though I didn’t want to be (ha) – errands (before lunch) and weeding (after lunch).
- Grilling outside for lunch – the first grill session of the season! I am going to see if I can keep track of them here.
- Seeing Anne for dinner! We met at a vegan restaurant (Chicago Diner) and had a great time catching up. You know, I think I am handling the pandemic and social isolation just fine then I see a friend and feel so energized and happy and it’s like, okay, yes, my life is suffering a bit from less social interactions.
- The delicious poutine at Chicago Diner.
- Anne telling me she was hoping I’d have a rock for her. I love it when people tell me that, and want one of my rocks (and I have one for them, ha). I painted Anne’s dog, Violet!
- Two rock packages coming in the mail – one trade (butterfly), and one that I ordered from Etsy (cats, from an Instagram friend who just opened a shop).
- Catching up on so many podcasts – on the run, during errands/chores, and while driving.
Sunday
- Getting a strength workout in.
- Breakfast sandwiches by Steven and eating the bread Anne baked us!
- Playing the new game Anne gave me.
- All the “happy cat mom day” wishes.
- Talking to Mom while I walked at the preserve, and seeing the new trail being built to connect to another preserve.
- Someone from my rock group rushing out there when they saw I was hiding rocks and being overjoyed when I hid one for them to find. They told me there is a special place in heaven for me several times. Aww. I know many who would disagree with that, but that’s sweet.
- Hanging out with Steven while he worked on projects outside.
- Seeing our new trees growing.
Lowlights
- No naps. Sigh. Next Friday, maybe!
- Sunscreen stinging my eyes every day of the week. But at least I’m wearing it every day?
- Bad chafing on my Saturday run. Time to use Body Glide on each run!
Sounds like a lovely weekend! Does Save the Last Dance hold up for you? I just keep remembering the funny video I saw sometime last year of someone remaking Julia Stiles audition dance, lol. https://www.instagram.com/p/B_2tERjAGBF/
I hope next weekend includes more naps! But I’m also glad you had a great social weekend, since I know that is good for your soul!
The entertainment value holds up, especially for someone who paints while watching TV, but there is some cringey stuff! OMG THAT VIDEO. THE DOG! Ha! So yeah, the dance stuff is definitely not impressive at all, but it’s all still fun and nostalgic! What do you think?
I hope it does too! Yard work every weekend is killing my body! I need recovery!
Are the molded rocks real/natural rocks that have mold around them? What are they made out of?
I love the new red bud trees! How big will they get?
They are molds made entirely out of concrete! I have some molds and concrete to try myself (I actually thought I’d be doing mostly that and not painting real rocks, lol).
They should grow to 30-35′!
