It’s been a year since I’ve been on a plane! It’s been a year since I’ve run a race! It’s been a year since I’ve seen Xaarlin in person (and soon, a year since I’ve seen many others in person)!
๐ฅบ๐ญ๐ฑ๐
On March 1, 2020, I ran the Publix Atlanta Half Marathon (and met Aliphine!), flew home from Atlanta, said goodbye to Xaarlin and her husband in the airport with plans to meet up in the spring… LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
It’s just weird to hit that one year milestone, as we all are about to.
As of March 10th it will be a year since I worked in the office.
As of March 14th it will be a year since I’ve taught a class.
Etc. Etc.
The good news is, I haven’t had the common cold since February 15th 2020…
Crazy, huh? What a milestone. It’s been over a year since I’ve been on a plane, a year since I last took the train to Brussels (although since then I have taken two train trips – one to Liรจge in October to visit a museum for my birthday, and one this past week to a small town not far away so we could hike for Stefaan’s birthday). So many things that were going to happen, got cancelled. Who would have ever thought this would impact the world the way it has?
Oh yes! Train rides! I wonder what Metra looks like now. What was it like when you used it those two times?
I wonder if anyone thought about this. I really don’t think people expected it to last longer than a few weeks! ๐ฎ
The train was empty and quiet – we did not go during rush hour, though. Stefaan has been to Brussels a couple times for work the past few months and then it was more like normal.
I think it is going to feel really weird the next time we do get on a plane, don’t you?
Ahh good! Did he feel comfortable with it being more full!
Yes, I think it will feel so weird, especially being in the airport!
It’s so crazy to be hitting these year milestones! December marked a year since I’ve been on a cruise and October marked a year since I’ve been on a plane. And March 13th will mark a year since my office was open! What an insane time.
I wonder what how long it will take us to adjust to “normal life” when it resumes. It’s going to feel so weird to just be around large groups of people! And to shop without a mask on!
It is! Oh wow, I bet the cruise one hurt ๐ Especially when you thought you guys might be able to do one this year ๐ UGH!!!!!!
It really will! But you know, I bet some part of us will be so happy for some things to be “normal” that it will just click over, you know? Like huging, for me. I am a big hugger, lol.
The milestones coming up are so weird! I ran a 50K trail race (my only ultra!) on March 7th last year! That was the last normal thing I did. My last day in the office was March 11. I haven’t been into the city since then. I do miss running there but don’t really miss the commute.
Oh my gosh! I am so glad you got to do your race though! AHh that would have sucked had it be canceled!!!!
I was thinking about how long it’s been since I ran in Chicago – definitely more than a year! I don’t miss the commute either.
It is crazy that a whole year has gone by…
Completely!
Ugh, this one-year anniversary of “unprecedented times” has me feeling a lot of things. (One of the weirdest is that I haven’t gotten my hair cut in over a year.) I also haven’t been on a plane in a year (as I write this), but United just emailed me to let me know they kept my gold status. Hooray? (Not that I’m planning on flying any time soon now anyway…)
I’m glad at least we’re not in that horrible, panicked state of the early pandemic days!
Great, thanks United… ugh. Do you think you will wait until most of SF is open to get your hair cut?
I am glad for that too! <3
All of this is just bonkers, isn’t it?
I actually find myself in the group of people who are highly anxious / reluctant to get back to “how things were”. At least, *exactly* how they were. I’d like to see some things stay (options to attend meetings virtually, for example). We’ll see what my workplace does…
And ditto on the common cold. I suspect next year will kind of stink, though. ๐
I am sorry you are feeling highly anxious but I also think it totally makes sense to feel that way! I hope you have options for virtual work.
And I hope I don’t get a bunch of colds when I start going to the office again. I really hope this taught people to STAY HOME WHEN THEY ARE SICK.
The cold I normally get during the long winter months here never showed up.
