A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Having the day off / pay day.
- Reading a book while I ate breakfast.
- My latest Shitterfly magnet arriving.
- Hiding ninja kitty rock on my run.
- The Starbucks barista complementing my face mask.
- Mac n cheese for lunch.
- Starbuck sitting on my lap.
- Starting a new rock gift.
- A walk with Kathie and Kristi. They’re both in education and their spring break started with our walk! I’m glad they get a week off – what a year it’s been!
- El Famous for dinner.
Saturday
- Waking up full of energy at 4 AM! DO ALL THE THINGS! Just kidding, not really a highlight but I got some stuff done.
- Someone posting a nice message that seeing my rocks (posted that I hid them in our Facebook group) gets their kid out the door to walk with them.
- Homemade donuts by Steven.
- Sorting through a bunch of old clothes and filling a huge box to donate to Goodwill.
- El Famous leftovers for lunch.
- Doing some landscaping planning with Steven.
- Going on a walk with Steven then getting Starbucks (two days in a row!!!).
- Watching Zack Synder’s Justice League and wondering “have I even seen this film, ever?” Ha. I did read a list that compares what is different from the Joss Whedon cut but nothing seems familiar. I definitely lost interest in superhero movies, especially the DC ones, when they became so oversaturated and difficult to distinguish from one another.
Sunday
- Hiding a special kitty rock at the beginning of my run, and really enjoying my long run.
- Meeting a local rock painter after my run for a rock exchange. She wanted to give me some of her rocks as a thank you for finding mine, and I made her a custom rock (I couldn’t come empty handed!). I had such a great time talking to her and her husband. It made me think about all the unlimited opportunities for friendship and connection. Do you ever stop and think about that? I often do, just like “what will my life look like in a year? who will my new friends be? what will I be listening to and watching?” I love that there are always new people to meet and connect with, and always new things being created for me to enjoy.
- Spending the afternoon painting rocks.
- The first meeting of “Women’s Group” – a group a friend set up for professional networking.
- Pasta Alfredo for dinner.
- A new stray cat visitor!!!!!!
Lowlights
- Feeling like I was going to crash Saturday afternoon from getting so little sleep. I’m so glad my body decided the weekend was the time to wakeup early each day. Awesome!
- Nice warm weather meaning people are blasting their music loudly. I like to describe it at “stadium level” sound. Why why why does it have to be THAT loud?!
I love how open you are about meeting new people and having conversation! I am just not a very open person in general so I have a hard time meeting new people and talking. I wish I was more open to new friendships but it’s hard when you have social anxiety. I love when I meet really friendly people who are great at conversation, though. It makes it so much easier for me! (But more work for them, haha.)
Now I want chips and guac.
Thank you! It’s something I really enjoy but completely understand not everyone is that way! I need to be mindful of cues from people who do have social anxiety to not push the conversation. 🙂
Same. Ha!
I love how much time you spent on painting the rocks. I have a lot (too many?) creative hobbies and don’t feel like I wanna do any of it right now. Just a phase?
Thanks! It’s a really good hobby to have when we’re just sitting around watching a show at lunch or a movie at night!
I totally go through phases like that. I used to knit… haven’t in years 😉
That Shutterfly autocorrect has returned (3rd item down on Friday). he he
Homemade donuts sound tasty.
Hee hee. I have to do it! And I love that you comment on it.
They were really good! Do you like cinnamon sugar donuts?
LOVE cinnamon sugar donuts. As you know, we have a lot of bakeries here in SLC (City Cakes has gone downhill the last couple of years) but we have a few new ones that I need to go check out to see what their donut and pastry options are.
