A few highlights from the weekend (part 1 – we’ve having an extended weekend in Iowa)!
Friday
- Getting a lot of personal items taken care of on my computer while I waited for an oil change. Related Lowlight – them not having a part my car needed despite calling me months ago to say they did, and me checking twice that they did before this appointment. Awesome. See “Lowlights” below for even more!
- A rock painting friend finding one of my “cats in a box” rocks and her daughter loving it.
- Chatting with our neighbors.
- A burger for dinner.
Saturday
- Getting some new rocks started when I couldn’t sleep due to a headache.
- Still getting my long run in despite said headache.
- Taking a nap to get rid of the headache.
- Really nice comments on the rocks I hid from my Facebook group, and two Instagram rock accounts copying my St. Patty’s cat rocks and posting their versions.
- Our neighbors telling me they went to the forest preserve I recommended.
- Grilled cheese for lunch.
- Getting the housed cleaned up. Thank heavens the cat sitter was coming, and I have someone to clean for besides us ha.
- El Famous for dinner.
Sunday
- Fitting all the stuff in the car we needed to take to Iowa. Ha.
- Trying the avocado toast at Dunkin’ Donuts. Yummy.
- See Gina, Steve, and Luca and all the work they’ve done on their new place in Iowa. They bought a second home in Guttenberg, and I’d visited once since they bought it but hadn’t seen the new flooring or all the furnishings yet. It looks beautiful!
- A walk with Gina.
- Seeing my sister and her family, and my parents and mom’s mom. I set up an Instagram account for my grandma so she can see all her grandkids posts. Aww.
- Getting adorable cat pics from the cat sitter.
- Staying up late chatting.
Lowlights
- Getting my oil changed taking 4 hours total (including my travel time) on Friday. Gah. When I made the appointment I was like “Do I really want to do this? Last time it took so long.” I told myself “Nah, it’ll be better this time.” Ha. It wasn’t. It takes me almost 30 mins to get to the dealership, two hours for the oil change, then another hour for my car to be washed and ready for me to take home? It’s just ridiculous, not to mention them not having the part I checked on several times. This is my fault for not requesting a courtesy car, or being dropped off (which would waste Steven’s time, which I don’t want to do), but I left there is such a bad mood about my “wasted time” that it pretty much ruined the rest of my day. I had so much trip prep stuff to do, it made the day feel too hectic (for me). Wah wah.
- Waking up at 2:00 am on Saturday with a raging headache and just getting up. Ugh. I took a nap when I got back from my run and thankfully, it went away.
- Waking up with a headache today due to two glasses of wine last night. GAH.
I loved that picture the cat toys (and cat in basket, LOL) that I sent a screenshot to my son and his girlfriend. They both immediately commented back JULEP! That’s her cat and her toy collection rivals yours…but you have three cats.
Really glad that you are getting to hang out with your dear friends – enjoy!!
Awww! I am glad Julep is so loved! What is her fave toy? Did you end up getting her any TacoCat toys? Did I recommend them or am I losing my mind~!
Thank you! I am! 🙂
What is it about car stuff that always takes 100x longer than you think? I hate waiting around the shop because you never know how long something is going to take (it always seems to be an hour+, and usually much longer than that). But then if I drop it off, they take all day to call me about it! You can never win, wah.
Yay for an extended weekend with Gina and fam! You deserve it. <3
Right? Like I get they have a lot going on, but come on. It just feels like a colossal waste of time no matter how you do it! And yeah, if you drop it, you don’t hear back until 5 pm!
Thank you! We’re having a good time!
How have we never talked about how much we both apparently hate wasting time? This is such a huge thing for me, and I can totally related with your frustration about the wasted time at the oil change. That would put me in a bad mood for awhile too; it’s hard to let go of those feelings!
Yeah it really is! I don’t mind if I am in control of wasting my own time, but when someone else is, it really makes me mad, especially if it could have been prevented with better communication!
sorry on the oil change – how frustrating! And that you called ahead and then they didn’t have the part. Sigh. I hope that you get the issue fixed soon – they should do it for you free of charge, IMO. (I realize, however, that they likely do not agree…)
And, mmm, your grilled cheese looks good. What cheese do you use?
It’s a warranty part so it should be for free! It’s the part that allows me to control the passenger window from the driver side. They actually told me at that visit to call back the next week and remind them to order the part. Um wtf why do I have to do your job? I didn’t, and am not going to. Ha.
Thanks! I bet we used Violife! Have you seen it? It was at Aldi and we stocked up on the slices and then I bought some full price (eek) from Fresh Thyme. It’s really good!
