A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- “Sleeping in.”
- A strength workout that left me shaky from lifting so much.
- Running errands and hiding rocks. Aldi had a bunch of new vegan foods, including vegan mozzarella sticks!!!
- Feeling good on my run.
- Burgers and tots for dinner.
- Watching New Mutants with Steven. It’s bad and I don’t recommend it but we had a free rental and it’s nice to watch something new.
- Apollo sitting on my lap for part of the movie. Starbuck has been turning into a lap cat lately (yay!) but this is the first time Apollo sat on my lap.
- Catching up with Mom on the phone.
Saturday
- “Sleeping in.” (Up from 3:30-6:30, slept until 9:00)
- A chill but productive morning at home with Steven. We had a late breakfast then I wrapped the rest of the holiday gifts and got some cleaning done. And took down what few Christmas decorations I’d put up (how was that still annoying with so few?!).
- Walking and catching up with Kim. Kim and I worked together at the same home gym, and she’s also my massage therapist. She reached out this week and asked if I wanted to walk some time and I’m so glad this worked out! AND THE SUN WAS ACTUALLY OUT FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE! This was the first day the sun had stayed out all week.
- All the rock hiding action on our walk. Holy cow. I brought 16 rocks to hide, and I think 3-4 other folks were out there hiding as well and we found 4 along with what we hid, and people found many more!
- Connecting with a local rock artist on Instagram. I saw they were hiding at a preserve I frequent and it turns out they live one town south of me, and are also a runner and a vegan!
- Twisted Plants for dinner. Another Milwaukee car date! Steven and I got the chicken wings, a burger, and a chicken sandwich. Oh! And cake. And they threw in a brownie due to the long wait. YUMMMM.
- Finally finishing my first book of 2021. What a slog. I hope the next one is quicker.
Sunday
- Actually doing a long run. After being so excited about getting back to double digits in December, I slacked off around the holidays.
- Having a lazy afternoon with Steven. I got some blog posts ready and painted some rocks while we watched 17 Again and Rock Star. And a bit of Crazy Rich Asians!
Lowlights
- Thinking I ruined some rocks with varnish. Thankfully the second coat fixed the issue, but I was worried I ruined something I put a lot of work in to.
- The dryer making my running clothes into one big knot and ruining a few things.
I insisted on going on a walk on Saturday, too, because I wanted to take advantage of the sun being out! I try to get outside most days because I figure even when it’s cloudy, there’s got to still be some sun sneaking through and maybe I can get a little vitamin D? This is what I tell myself at least. It’s a LOT easier when it’s actually sunny, though!
I was actually wondering the same thing last week – how much Vitamin D I get when it’s so overcast?! Hopefully some! I am glad you were able to get out Saturday too! It was so beautiful with the sun and snow!
Sounds like a good weekend! How were the vegan mozzarella sticks?
They were good! I still need to try the cheddar ones!
I am taking from the quotation marks around “sleeping in” that you’re an early riser, even on weekends? I can, if I want to, but if I sleep in, I won’t get up before 9 (at the earliest).
I am right now, and it’s becoming a bad routine of being up from 3:30-5:00 or 6:00 then going back to bed. Sleeping in until 9:00 is divine! Do you do it very often?
I can’t believe how early you’re still getting up! But at least you can go back to sleep for a few hours, and sometimes it’s so nice to get stuff done so early in the morning when the rest of the world is asleep!
Man, I loved Crazy Rich Asians. The movie was so good! I didn’t love the book but the movie was AMAZING.
I can’t believe it either. I keep thinking I will fall back asleep and I am not! But yeah, it’s a nice quiet time to get things done, then go back to bed.
It’s such a fun movie! Is the book really different? I was reading the synopsis on Goodreads and got the impression it followed more storylines?
I love that you found another you who does rock art, runs, and is vegan! Also, I feel like I need to drive to MKE to get some of this awesome vegan food you keep referencing… yummm…
Me too! I think you should! Have you checked out the vegan scene there?
