Well, since last Friday
I’ve been waking up way too early, so I’ve started a new morning routine – paint and watch horrible Netflix holiday movies (until it’s light enough out to walk or run).
Guys. These movies. Are. Horrible. But you know what? They’re perfect for listening to, and for laughing at how silly they are, while doing something else.
So far I’ve watched (on Netflix):
- The Princess Switch: Switched Again
- Holidate
- Operation Christmas Drop
- Midnight at the Magnolia
- A Christmas Catch
- Hometown Holiday (just started this am)
I’ve already seen (previous years on Netflix):
- The Princess Switch
- Let It Snow
- Christmas Inheritance
And we’ve watched some real holiday movies this year:
- White Christmas (my favorite!)
- Die Hard
Phew. I can’t believe how many I’ve watched this year, and there’s still a HUGE catalog on Netflix. Tell me which ones I should prioritize watching!
Here is what I am painting! I am meeting a friend to walk Saturday and plan to hide all the words and penguin rocks (I have a few more penguins in progress) at the same preserve:
I will hide George and Snoopy by themselves on runs. Yesterday I hid Olaf and Sven (ha, the “dud” versions. I made two of each and saved the best ones for my nephew) on a run:
I made this one and decided to give it to a friend:
I copied this from something I saw online! A lot of these are copied ideas!
And I am going SUPER BASIC and am going to put the slogan on my shirt on to a rock! Ha!
Today is our work holiday party (virtually), hence the festive top!
Here are the pens I’ve been using – the brand is called Tooli-Art. I was super excited to get this surprise in the mail yesterday from my Mom and Snis! How thoughtful! I was just telling Snis how much I wanted the B&W pen set!
(Gina and fam also sent me something for my promotion! A ‘succ’ess succulent! I love succulents but only have one other one because I am scared I will never stop buying them once I start. So I loved receiving one, and am so grateful to have such thoughtful friends and family sending me so many congratulations! That includes all of you!)
All of the rocks that you have painted are AWESOME!!! I can only imagine the delight they will bring to whomever finds them!!
Thanks so much! I hope they do! I feel so much joy when I find one!
Love the rock/watch routine! I haven’t seen a lot of holiday movies beyond Holidate (which I thought was pretty good) and Happiest Season(hulu) (this one had a character that I found unappealing so it wasn’t as good as I’d hoped – but Dan Levy is in it and he’s awesome). Of course I’ve already watched Elf but am behind on my Elf-watching in general as I’ve usually watched it a few more times by now, LOL.
I thought Holidate was fine too! I appreciated how raunchy and inappropriate it was. Ha.
Ahh, I have heard about that! That she should have ended up with Plaza’s character, right? Do you agree?
Girl, you need to go watch Elf right meow!!!!
Yes, either Aubrey Plaza’s character…or anyone else. The other one was so freaking selfish.
Dang that sucks!!!!
I love your handwriting! And those penguins!! Ahhh. These rocks would be such a joy to find when out and about, especially at this time of the year!
Ooh, your holiday party tee reminds me that I should wear my crazy cat lady sweater to our virtual party (which is next week!). Yassss.
Thank you! I had to look up how to do some cursive letters, ha! And I hope they are! Yesterday someone posted that their kids found the Grinch and Max on a cold windy walk and that it really made their day.
YES! And show us, obviously!
The rocks with the words are gorgeous! I was wondering how you got them so neatly handwritten and then I saw the pens…what a cool invention!
Hope your virtual holiday party is fun!
Thank you! Yeah, you gotta have the pens. I mean, people can probably do that with a brush and paint, but not me!
Thanks! It was good for what it was! π I miss everyone!
I love your new routine and hearing/reading about your rocks! Do you think you’ll try to paint your cats at some point? (They seem hard to paint, but so do most of the things you’ve already done so well. I am not artistic!)
We just watched “Switched Again” last night. I liked that it didn’t take itself seriously at all. Harrison said he preferred it to “Operation: Christmas drop.” I think we’re going to watch the jewelry thief one next…
I definitely want to paint a whole cat series! It would be fun to try to cartoonize ours! I did buy cat molds to make rocks, and have concrete on my holiday wishlist, ha!
I liked that about it too! Oh gosh, the jewelry thief one is ABSOLUTELY horrible. Def watch it.
Why, oh why, are you doing this to yourself (with the horrible Christmas movies)? LOL
The rocks you’ve been painting are awesome though!
Ha ha ha! Because it’s amusing and fun to laugh at them? Hee hee.
Thank you!
Love the penguin rocks.
