A few highlights from the weekend!
Thursday
- Taking some leave in the afternoon to enjoy our 50° temps for a run.
- Receiving 5 holiday cards.
- Receiving a congratulations card in the mail from a coworker.
- Taking a bath and using another one of my Advent calendar bath bombs. Each one has a surprise in it!
- Watching Elf with Steven. I don’t think I’d ever seen it straight through before. So funny!
Friday
- Receiving a congratulatory Bath & Body Works gift card from Mica. Thank you!
- Leaving a rock in a specific spot for someone trying to find one of mine. Ha, so a few people in my Facebook rock group have been going to the spots I leave my rocks and not finding them before someone else does. Everyone is good natured about it, but on Friday I left a rock in a specific spot for someone to find and it made their day.
- Hearing my story being shared on the Ali on the Run “Feel Good Friday” episode. Ali asked for embarrassing running stories, and I sent one in and she read it!
- Seeing our fave vet tech when we dropped Khali off for her appointment. And Khali’s appointment finally happening!
- Getting a bunch of errands done. It was busy, and it was raining, but it felt good to get them done on Friday.
Saturday
- Starting a book I could tell I’ll like (Operation Ironman: One Man’s Four Month Journey from Hospital Bed to Ironman Triathlon). I’ve been a major mood reader lately and nothing was giving me what I wanted.
- Pancakes for breakfast.
- Using the skid-steer to move our storage shelf. We have a REALLY heavy storage shelf in Dragonstone. The last time we moved it, we took everything off it, took the shelves off it, and Bobbi and John still had to help us move it and reassemble. This time we took everything off and, and used the skid-steer (with forks) to move it. Much easier!
- Getting all of the holiday presents ordered for Steven’s family.
- Watching The Christmas Chronicles for the first time. What a fun movie! I love sassy Santa!
- Using glitter paint on rocks for the first time.
Sunday
- Seeing a beautiful sunrise.
- Going on a walk and hiding rocks with Julie. Julie is a friend of mine from the studio I used to teach at, and I haven’t seen her since early 2020! It was such a treat to catch up.
- A charcuterie board for lunch.
- Visiting with Kathie. Kathie came over to pick up some rocks I painted for her as gifts, and brought us chais (!!!!), and a present for me (!!!!!!!!!) and we had a nice long visit and got to show her Dragonstone. She was a huge hit with the cats, even Khali! We had such a nice visit, it made me really miss having people over. Not that we did it that often before, but, yeah, I miss it.
- Indulgent dinner – Tofurkey, dressing, and mashed potatoes.
- Watching part of The Christmas Chronicles 2.
Lowlights
- Being so damn tired all the time. I’m still getting up way too early and not taking naps. At least I slept past 6:00 today?!
Your charcuterie board looks so nice! Sounds like it was a good weekend all around!
Hopefully you can catch up on your sleep soon…
Thanks! I think I need an actual board! The cutting board is just not the same.
I hope so too. I plan to take a lot of naps around the Christmas holiday!
Well, if the stuff on the board looks good, it doesn’t matter so much what the actual board looks like, right? 😉 Honestly, I hadn’t even noticed that it was a cutting board, I was drooling over the vegan cold cuts – ha ha!
True! It’s all covered up!
They’re so good! Do you ever buy any? Steven started selling some now, which is fun!
Very rarely – because I am generally the only one who eats them and they are pretty calorie dense for me, especially the vegan cheezes. But last year I made a vegan cheeze ball for the holidays and it was really good so I might try a charcuterie board this year!
What a lovely weekend, minus being so tired. I hope you’ll be able to catch up on your sleep soon!
Hooray for Khali’s appointment finally happening! I’m sure she was THRILLED. 😉
Thank you! I have naps planned over the holidays!!!!
Oh she was. She really, really, was 😉
What kinds of fake meats go on the charcuterie board? Yours looks tasty!
The episode about “Elf” of “The Holiday Movies that Made Us” on Netflix is interesting, especially the part about how they did the North Pole shots with giant Buddy. I recommend it now that you’ve seen it!
We use the Tofurky deli slices and this other deli slice FM sells now… Yves brand! We did one last night for Steven’s bday too! And made deep dish and bread sticks too. Then we were too full for cake but we’d had it every day since Friday so…
Oh! I will try to remember to check that out! I was actually wondering how they did that when I watched it!
The one rock pictured above with the cat on it reminds me of the Pusheen cat comic character.
I am glad it looks like Pusheen because that is who it was supposed to be! I also made a Stormy and Pip and hid them all together. Someone picked up Pusheen but left the other two so I brought them back home. Ha!
