- On the Bus (a vegan restaurant in the Milwaukee Public Market) does a “Burger Monday special” every (you guessed it!) Monday, and we went up for a date night in the car this week to eat this bad boy. Oh my gosh. It was AMAZING. (But it’s so weird to eat in the car!)

- I’m in a couple of Facebook groups for the running podcasts I listen to, and I saw a comment from other group member who has the same name as a coworker and thought, “Wow! This person has the same name as my cowoker, how odd!” then clicked on their profile and saw they had the same maiden name as my coworker… and therefore was my coworker. Ha. Small world. I chatted her about it and we dorked out over that podcast and running related stuff.
- I ordered some jeans from Kohl’s and some of the comments said they don’t come hemmed, and some said they did, and sure enough, I picked them up and they weren’t. What the AF. The product description said nothing about getting the legs hemmed yourself. That’s a nice option, but I don’t want to go to a tailor during a pandemic so… I will be returning them (I don’t own a sewing machine, or sew). Womp womp.
- Our virtual work holiday party was last night! They made a lot of effort to make it fun, interactive, and inclusive, and there were some laughs and fun stories told, but… it just felt like a meeting. Because that’s what it was. I appreciate the effort and getting to see so many of my coworkers though!
We had our virtual work holiday party last Thursday, and I thought it went really well! They had a variety of activity options we could choose from (a cooking class, a painting class, a wine tasting class), and I think that’s what made the biggest difference. No one was really on the hook to socialize with anyone else: we just watched the instructor for whatever class we signed up for. That being said, I’m hosting a team virtual holiday party this evening, and we don’t have any activity options to choose from, so we’ll see how that goes! Hopefully it won’t be too meeting-like!
Wow! That sounds so fun! Which one did you choose? And yes, not having to socialize awkwardly virtually helps! And how did your team one go?
Ooh, your text/post about the burger did make me excited for doing similar things now that we have a car. However, I dislike the experience of eating messy food (like, uh, big burgers) when I can’t wash my hands. Were you able to keep the drips to a minimum in the car? At least you’re sitting down!
UGH, unhemmed jeans! WHYYY? I own a sewing machine, but I don’t know how to hem, nor do I have the right top-stitching thread…so I wouldn’t buy them either!
Yes! It will be so convenient! Ugh, yeah, it felt weird not to be able to wash my hands. I didn’t drip and used hand sanitizer after but it’s just not the same!
Right! Even if I had a sewing machine I am sure I’d do a super sh*tty job!
OMG that burger looks SO GOOD!!! It makes me feel like a burger tonight for dinner, nom nom…
That sucks about those jeans! If we lived close to each other I would hem them for you… I often have to hem my own pants because I have short legs for my pant size and I hem Stefaan’s pants when he buys suits. It’s not too hard to do but you do need a sewing machine.
It was amazing!!!! Did you end up having burgers?
I totally wish I could use your services!!! And yeah, Steven asked if I was going to do it at home, and I was like, no, we don’t have a sewing machine. Can you imagine what that would look like by hand? LOLOLOL.
Yes, we did – I luckily had two burgers and two buns in the freezer!
BTW just finished “One True Loves” yesterday – read it in one day and loved it! What a dilemma she was in! But the way it turned out made me happy…it was a satisfying ending.
I need to read that one! I am glad you liked the ending! I just got one of hers from Libby – Maybe in Another Life.
Just finished The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and really enjoyed it! Thanks for recommending her books to me…I just got started on Daisy and the Six last night, although I think it might take me a while to get used to the format.
You’re welcome! Did you figure out the connection before it was explained!
I thought that too about Daisy but I got into it pretty quickly and liked how fast of a read it was since there are less words on the page!
We had our holiday party yesterday, virtually of course, and it went surprisingly well. We had planned a gingerbread building contest that 5 people participated in and it was really fun to watch them build and then other coworkers were heckling them as they built. Once the time was up they displayed their masterpieces and then everyone voted on them. We also played a trivia game that I was awful at but it was still fun – and more heckling was involved!
Ha! Both activities sound really fun! So were you a builder or a heckler? Did they use kits?
Unhemmed jeans? What world are we living in???? That’s crazy!
We have our holiday party on Thursday and I hope it doesn’t feel like a meeting! It will be nice to see everyone’s faces, though! We don’t do a lot of video calls (most everyone keeps their videos off) so it will be good to remember what everyone looks like, hehe.
Right?! And Levi’s?! From Kohl’s?!?!
I hope it’s fun and does not feel like a meeting too! Let me know how it goes!
I would try that burger. It looks really good.
