A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Getting an email from The Drive telling me to be ready to answer my phone at 7:00 am Monday in case I’m the $20,000 winner.
- Seeing Lorena for a manicure and pedicure. I canceled my last appointment to save money and because I thought we were going to work on the garage shortly after and regretted canceling it – when my nails are not professionally done I just pick at them. Ugh. It’s a horrible habit that I’ve gotten better at, but still do. And it was so nice to visit with Lorena! I don’t think I’d had a long in person chat session with someone other than Steven since our fall river trip, because of social distancing. It was fun to chat with Lorena and be too loud and catch up on gossip.
- Bringing home the Datsun!!! Yay! It’s been in storage since a few months before we moved to this house in February 2016 and it’s so nice to have it here – and to have the space for it!
Saturday
- Listening to music (instead of podcasts) and thinking through some work stuff on my run.
- Receiving a Halloween card and Starbucks gift card from my parents.
- A phone call with Mom.
- Pleasant weather for Dragonstone work (more frieze board install, and trim around garage door install).
- A lovely conversation with the Aldi cashier. Ha, she was joking about my “good” produce to cookies ratio (lots of produce and one container of cookies).
- Getting Starbucks and noticing our new Starbucks has the prettiest view from the drive through.
- Cleaning out and organizing our weird can storage cabinet.
- Watching a slasher film (Hush) then getting all worked up when a car came down the driveway (a delivery we forgot about). Ha!
Sunday
- Taking down Halloween decorations and putting up Thanksgiving-themed ones.
- Being lazy and reading.
- Catching up with Anne during a walk.
A car in your new garage, eek!!! How nice to see this!
I know it’s past 7:00 am but I’m still hoping you win the $$$. YOU NEVER KNOW, right??
Thank you! We’re so excited!
Aww thanks for hoping for me! I did not win! It was fun to play and listen to the winner this am though!
Aww, I was going to ask you if you won and saw your response to Shelley. WAHHHHH.
So many good things about this weekend! I’m glad you had such a lovely one, especially bringing the Datsun home. Yayyyy! It’s crazy how long it has been away. I don’t know much about this Datsun – how is it special? Do you guys drive it at all?
IKR?! Sigh. Hee hee.
From Steven: I wanted a project car back in the day, and I liked the look of the old Datsun z cars. I bought one on ebay for $800, and worked on it for a few years. It turned out to be a rust nightmare. Found one in Kankakee, IL that had much less rust, but wasn’t complete. Missing a motor, transmission, some body parts, etc. Bought it and made a decent, complete car out of it + parts from my first one + spare parts I had acquired over the years.
Haven’t driven it since it was stored 4+ years ago. It runs and drives well. Smells like 1978 exhaust.
From Me: It’s a lot of fun to ride in and he really loves working on it so I’m glad it’s home! Steven is happiest when he has projects and the Datsun definitely still needs some work!
