A few highlights from the weekend! It was so nice to get away for a long weekend on the Lake Michigan shoreline in Wisconsin!
Thursday
- Arriving at our vrbo and loving the location and cute little cottage! The cottage we rented (in Wisconsin, near Sheboygan) was right on Lake Michigan. You could see the lake from the living room, and hear the waves in most of the house! The main house had a kitchen, dining room, large living room, bedroom, and bathroom, and the other building had bunk beds.
- Dinner at Milwaukee Alehouse in Grafton. AHHH it was so weird to eat inside with other people. It felt safe, it just feel wrong the whole time, because we hadn’t done it in six months. The food was delicious though!
Friday
- Getting up to watch the sunrise with Steven, then going back to bed. I’m so grateful we got one pretty sunrise, because it was cloudy, windy, and rainy most of the weekend.
- Running in Harrington Beach State Park.
- Exploring downtown Sheboygan – sweet treats from Victorian Chocolate Shoppe, lunch at Field to Fork, shopping, and drinks and treats at Whisk.
- Touring the Kohler Design Center and imagining having a high-end bathroom.
- Walking on the cordwalk in Kohler-Andrae State Park. The views of the lake and dunes were stunning!
- Walking around Quarry Lake in Harrington Beach State Park.
Saturday
- Lunch at Fork & Tap in Port Washington. The A-Roi Fries were delicious! We dined inside and there were less people and we were more spread out than Thursday night, and that felt better.
- Checking out the shops in downtown Port Washington. I found a few fun gifts!
- Getting compliments on my new cloth face mask. Donuts!
- Making a fire and sitting by the lake. Ha, we got rained on sitting out there, but we wanted to enjoy the water, and we did!
Sunday
- Skipping my run to sleep in. Ha, okay, not so much a highlight as necessary – the bed at the vrbo was smaller than what we’re used to, and a different firmness, and I woke up sorer and sorer each day. It didn’t make sense to force a run when I felt so stiff.
- The waves dying down, the cloud clearings, and the sun staying out… for a minute. I’m glad we got to see what the vrbo is like when the waves aren’t so crazy.
- Twisted Plants in Cudahy for lunch. So good! One last vacation gut bomb! What are we going to do when it’s too cold to pick up food and eat outside?!
- Arriving home and seeing the kitties!
- Taking an epsom salt bath to soothe my aching body.
- Being home!
This looks like SUCH a nice weekend getaway! What an awesome Vrbo location – right on the water! Amazing! Were there other people staying in it with you, or was it just the two of you? Your comment about the other building with bunk beds made me wonder.
Your donut mask is a delight π
It was! And it was just us! I just thought it was interesting it had a separate “bunkhouse”!
Thanks! I missed out on a vegan donut tour opportunity – Whisk in Sheboygan had them, but earlier in the day – they were sold out when we got there! Womp!
I love your donut mask! And I’m glad you had such a great time away. Your VRBO location is perfection.
I had to laugh when you talked about touring the Kohler Design Center. I write for Kohler and I’m constantly drooling over their high-tech showers. I WANT.
Thank you! I think you’d like some of the fabrics this Etsy shop uses – https://www.etsy.com/shop/tacocatcreations. They put new fabrics out every Friday night. I am going to ask if they are going to do a book one!
Yes! We spent a lot of time looking at shower heads! Gah, you should see the show room. They have the neatest designs!!!
Your verb-o weekend looks so nice. Do you think you’ll do it again?
Sitting and reading on vacation is really the best. I’m glad you got some time to do that!
…tell me more about what looks like a slice of Millionaire’s shortbread in that photo, please. π
Yeah, someday!
Ugh, I wish I would have been reading a better book! I didn’t care for the novel I was reading and should have skipped to the next one.
The Paleo place we got it from called it a Twix bar! It was good – the best thing we got there. Have you made it before? I didn’t know that was the name for it!
The cottage looks adorable, and despite the weather it looks like you guys had a great getaway! Your food looks delicious too!!! And did you really see that deer? And look at all those toilets! π
Yes! We saw so many deer. We were super careful driving around the cottage because we kept seeing so many deer in the fields, and we saw a ton at that one state park!
LOL the toilet wall. So funny π
