A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Receiving a letter from a stranger in the mail. Huh? Ha, I will explain. Whenever I see articles asking for cards to be send to someone (a veteran hitting a milestone birthday for example) I send one. Recently, I sent a card to a young girl with autism. I was nervous about the card I picked because it had glitter underneath plastic on it, and I didn’t know if that would be a sensory overload for her (I made sure it was sealed and no glitter would come off, but you are never safe with glitter). But her mom sent a thank you saying the sparkle and glitter made her daughter so happy. Aww, yay!
- A breeze on my run and thinking of situational interview examples while running (and drafting them out when I got home).
- Reading and lying with Starbuck.
- Checking out The Baby-Sitters Club on Netflix.
- El Famous for dinner.
Saturday
- Getting some chores done. I’ve been so focused on my job application and now, interview topic ideas, that I’ve been neglecting chores and it’s REALLY bugging me. I spend a lot of time thinking about it, feeling anxious. So on Saturday after my run (notice the run’s NOT on this list, ha), I tidied up the kitchen, shredded everything on the shred pile, completely cleaned out the fridge and freezer, and reorganized the coat closet. And made cookies for our upcoming river trip! (Steven spent the entire day working with an electrician on power for the garage, so he had a very productive day too!)
- Working on interview examples and a project facts sheet.
- A video chat with my brother-in-law.
Sunday
- A breeze on my morning run, and practicing interview questions while I ran.
- Steven making me a breakfast sandwich after I finished workouts.
- A short nap before lunch. (I got up at 3:10 and could not fall back asleep so I was pretty tired!)
- Grilling lunch.
- Working on essay question ideas in Dragonstone while Steven worked on electrical.
- Reading my “kudos” work email folder for encouragement.
- Remembering you can take ibuprofen for aches other than a headache. Ha! I only ever think to take medicine for a headache but it works for other things too. Derp.
Lowlights
- Getting super sunburned on Friday’s run. I ran later than normal and forgot to wear sunscreen.
- So much anxiety about if I get an interview and when will it be.
I think I recognize those cookies! Hang in there, Kim, about the interview…
Double batch!
Thanks, I am trying. Not succeeding π
Ai! The waiting must be so tough…but given the job description, you will most certainly be invited for an interview. So the big worry is when it will be and how much time you’ll have to prepare?
I hope so!
Someone told me yesterday that they usually contact you and give you 1-2 days before the interview. I am really hoping if I get one it’s before we go on vacation, but if not I will make it work!
Oh, wow, I didn’t even stop to think about the possibility that your interview could be scheduled for when you are supposed to be on vacation…yikes! I will keep my fingers crossed that the universe conspires to get it scheduled on a day that is convenient for you so you can fully relax while you are away.
Thanks! I hope so too! But it will be a good lesson in flexibility for me if it does not work out! The world does not revolve around me π
You have prepared more for this job interview than anyone else, I’d bet, and I hope hope hope you get it because they need to know how qualified and passionate you are about the job. Fingers crossed you hear soon!
I hope I have, hee hee π
Thanks for crossing your fingers for me! I appreciate it!
Ugh, I had that anticipatory anxiety when you’re waiting to hear back about something. Especially something as important as this interview. <3 I know you've heard it all before, but I'll just reiterate: you are doing everything you can to make this happen for you! You spend so much time on that application and you're preparing for the interview right now! I know it's not easy to turn off your brain, but whenever you need a pep talk, I'm your girl. π
I always forget about taking ibuprofen for things like muscle aches! And then I do and it makes me feel soooo much better and it's like, "duh, Steph." SIGH.
That’s exactly what it is and I just can’t shake it! Your pep talk helps though, so thank you!!! I do just need to find a way to turn off my brain!
Yep! I wonder why we are like that?! I legit only ever think to take it for headaches!
Ooh question, do you have a paper shredder for your shred pile? We just bought a dinky hand-held one because I can’t bring myself to buy an electric one. It does seem useful though.
Ugh, this job interview sounds so stressful. You’ve done a great job breaking down the different components and attacking each one with a lot of effort. I hope it pays off for you, but I know that the waiting is no fun. Maybe time with friends and family will keep the anxiety at bay?
Yes we do! We have an electric. We’d love to have a huge one because we shred so much, but this works for now. How is the hand-held?
It is! I keep wondering if I am making it worse, but I know it’s my personality to be anxious, and a lot of coworkers say it made them feel the same way. Time with F&F (FAST AND FURIOUS?!) will help so much!
