A few highlights from the weekend!
I had a big shocker about my job application Friday. Sigh.
Thursday
- A surprise package in the mail from Anne. She sent me postcards, stickers, and notebook – all things I love!
- Starting a new book with a main character that makes me laugh out loud.
- Figuring out what to order for my “river” gift (and ordering it!).
- El Famous for dinner.
- Knowing that everyone has Friday off so my work email shouldn’t be too nuts on Monday. (Plus, knowing I would be on my work computer all weekend working on my resume anyway, so I would see any errant emails that come in.)
Friday
- Feeling good on a hot run.
- A video chat with my coworker/friend Kim. It was great to catch up! Ugh, I originally had the rest of this under “lowlights” but I’ll share it here for consistency – I found out during my chat with Kim that there are likely essay questions required with my resume. She was right. I had to go all the way through the submittal process to find them at the end. They are not included in the listing. GAH. This made me so upset, but I am glad I found them Friday, and not when I tried to submit my application. I spent the rest of the day drafting two of them (and venting to friends and my snister and Steven about them being “hidden” – thanks for listening!).
- Homemade macaroni and cheese for dinner and watching Star Wars: Episode III β Revenge of the Sith. We rewatched episodes I-III in the past week and yeah, these are really bad! I first saw them at ages 14, 17, and 20, so I didn’t pick up on how bad the writing is, how cheesy the jokes are, and how overdone a lot of it is. I still like watching them though. I just roll my eyes more now.
Saturday
- Sleeping until 8:00! (After waking up at 4:30 and being up from 4:30 to 6:00, of course).
- A breakfast sandwich and hash browns, made by Steven.
- Finding red, white, and blue to wear on my run. And not melting on my run.
- Getting Dragonstone and the yard a bit more organized. We have a lot of wood and old pallets in the yard and we decided what to keep and what to throw away. We’ll rent a dumpster soon to get rid of the scraps. It will be nice to have all that out of the yard!
- Getting all three of my application essays drafted.
- Grilling dinner. We usually grill at lunch and the sun hits the deck just right to make me too hot but it felt nice in the evening!
Sunday
- Feeling strong for most of my long run.
- Finishing my essay drafts.
- Talking with Mom on the phone.
- A River Trip 2020 planning meeting with Steven, Gina, and Steve. I am so excited for our trip!
- The crazy burger I had for dinner – it was a Beyond burger with half a brat and some macaroni and cheese on it.
- Laughing at the movie My Spy.
Lowlights
- Waking up Friday morning to a dream that I was being attacked on a trail I run on frequently. In the dream I pulled out my pepper spray and used it, and called 911 and told them exactly where I was and what the perpetrator looked like but still… not how I want to wake up when I am about to go on a run!
- Getting an iced chai Friday and not realizing until I got home that they made it with cow’s milk. Wah. Ha ha.
- Dropping a 2×4 on my right foot. Just putting this here in case I can’t remember doing that and it ends up being sore later.
- Handing Steven 2x4s and not realizing they had ants all over them until they were crawling all over my arms. Oops.
- Fireworks.
Gosh, thank God you talked to Kim and she pointed that out – how mean is it that they hide that at the bottom??? I can totally understand that that freaked you out. It sounded like you were still able to do some relaxing/enjoyable things despite having to write essays all weekend!
Yes, those episodes are terribly cheesy! But they do have some great cheesy moments. My fave is when PadmΓ© and Anakin show up to save Obi Wan in that big colliseum with savage animals and they are all tied to columns and they tell him they came to save him, and he kind of looks around, and then says “Good job.” Haha!
Right? If I hadn’t I wouldn’t have found them until today or tomorrow! There is a link in the application to the questions, but only the multiple choice ones. Who would think to go all the way through the process to find those? I suppose anyone who has done this before π I did still get to do some relaxing things! I think I will feel so much better when this is submitted!
Ha! I was totally laughing at that too. And all the times when Obi-Wan and Anakin “argue” about whether Obi-Wan needed saving or had things under control. The best part of those movies are Padme’s gorgeous outfits and hair!
Thanks! My foot feels okay! And Steven was so sweet and made me an iced chai at home when he saw how pissy I was. Ha.
PS I hope your foot is okay and boo to cow’s milk. π
What is up with the essay questions being so hidden? That is strange but I’m glad you got warning with enough time to get them done.
Yay yay yay for the river trip! Planning something like that can be so fun and ramps up the excitement about the entire thing, doesn’t it?
I need help with a gift for someone and since you are so good with that, I’ll be emailing you later today to see if you can come up with something. Thanks in advance! π
That is what I am wondering! Especially when there is a link in the application to the “questions.” (It linked to a bunch of confusing multiple choice questions). I am SO grateful Kim warned me!
Yes! It really did! I went to bed last night feeling so excited!
Aww, thanks! You are welcome in advance ;). I look forward to your email!
Gah, you’re doing so much work on this resume! I can’t remember the last time I worked that hard on something, hahaha. You got this, girl!
I slept in until 10am on Sunday and it felt MAGNIFICENT. I can’t remember the last time I slept in that late. Also: same low for me on the fireworks. UGH. They were going off all night around here and driving me crazy.
I cannot either, which is why it’s so draining! LOLOL! Thanks for the encouragement!
Ooo that is amazing!
Yeah, I just hate loud (especially unexpected) noises. I tried to be chill because it was the fourth but it ruined my night π
Phew, this job application sounds SO intense! I feel like just getting through the process of applying should be enough to qualify you for the position, ha. I get bent out of shape when a cover letter is expected – I would not be pleased to find surprise essay questions!
I am starting to feel that way too. I know they only want to interview qualified people, but eek!
Ha, I passed on the cover letter. I did NOT have it in me to do one after all this! π
UGH that hidden essays! Like you said, it’s better to find out before you were submitting, but geez! Why THREE essays???
Would you recommend “My Spy”? I couldn’t tell if it would be too kid-focused.
I’m always so jealous of the hashbrowns Steven makes. Wish I could come over and eat them with you (and see his magic trick again)!
Exactly. From what I have heard, three is not that many! Whoa!
Yes! It wasn’t! And the kid character was cute and not annoying.
I wish you could too! OMG, I am still laughing about his “magic”!
