Notes:

  • During my Tuesday run, I said hi to a guy walking in the park and ended up talking to him the next time we passed each other. He’s a truck driver from NYC and was walking laps before his drive for the day – how cool is that?! Also, we were both wearing the same thing – black shorts and a blue top in the same shade of blue. Ha. Twinning!
  • Bobbi and her oldest daughter drove by when I was finishing my run on Wednesday! I love seeing people I know when running! It gives me such a pep in my step.
  • My legs are completely in long run mode since most of my runs are double digits now. That means they don’t warm up until at least 4 miles in, sometimes more. But sometimes I get an energy surge after they warm up. On Wednesday, my last five miles were about a minute per mile faster than my first four! And my HR wasn’t elevated at all – it felt completely natural. So weird, but I’ll take it! That won’t last long, with summer mugginess on its way!
  • Ha, I wrote that bullet before my Friday run, where my starting pace was a lot faster than usual, and felt really easy. I felt good the whole run and was so annoyed when I accidentally stopped and saved my activity while getting rocks out of my shoes – I wanted to see my average pace for all 15 miles together. Oh well.
  • Gah, the trails are so dusty – I finish with my legs covered in dust. And even though I am wearing gaiters, my shoes are filling with rocks. It seems like we need some rain…
  • My right foot felt tender (lateral foot pain, probably from my ridiculous supination and not wearing shoes in the house) at the beginning of the week so I skipped my Tuesday speedwork. It feels fine now, so hopefully I do speed this Tuesday.
  • I haven’t been cycling since there’s no RAGBRAI this year. Oops? Maybe when it gets really hot I will ride my bike more. Right now, I am having more fun running.
