Notes:

  • I try to be cautious of the amount of time spent doing speedwork and only increase it a minute or two each week. So if I ran 12×1:00 last week (12 minutes), I should run 13-14 minutes of speedwork this week. Well, I ran 17+ minutes of speedwork on Tuesday and it was a bit too much! It probably didn’t help that it was in the middle of a ten mile run. Ha. I wanted to see if a longer warm-up would help with doing speedwork first thing in the morning. (It kind of did?)
  • I decided to do my longest run on Friday since I had a Zoom date close to the time I’d normally do it Sunday. It started raining in the beginning of my run and the rain felt good. Then the rain stopped, and I was soaked, and the air was still full of water, and no breeze could dry me. I had wrinkly bathtub hands (and probably feet!) and my nail polish was starting to peel off. Ha! There was a lot of stopping and going, but I finished it!
  • I wanted to see if I could run 50 miles this week, and I did it! I felt good, but gosh, fitting in 50 miles over five days of running instead of six requires a lot of double digit runs. I enjoy them, I am just slower than I used to be, so they take a lot of time (which I have!). I’d like to try going back to six days a week of running after losing a bit of weight, so maybe in a few months. (Ha, in a few months, I will be cutting back on running because it will be so nasty hot and humid.)
