A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Feeling amazing on my morning run.
- Steven making me a breakfast sandwich after my run.
- Our neighbor’s daughter sending us some face masks.
- El Famous for dinner.
- Testing out my dad jokes on my mom on the phone.
Saturday
- Finishing the roof of Dragonstone! (more on that tomorrow)
- Receiving a hilarious Mother’s Day card in the mail from the cats.
Sunday
- Dry trails for my run.
- Seeing goslings on my run.
- Steven making pancakes for breakfast.
- The kittens’ second birthday.
- Wishing Mom a happy mother’s day on the phone.
- Being lazy most of the day with Steven. We watched a couple of Homeland episodes and laid in bed together reading for a while. We hadn’t been that lazy in some time and I LOVED it! Then he went to work in the garage after 4:00 and I took a nap.
Lowlights
- Both of us having crappy ends to our Friday work days. Kind of ruined the night.
- Having work anxiety (about both of my jobs) while trying to fall back asleep Saturday morning, then dreaming about it. Ugh, I was having anxiety about physically going back in (to both jobs) before it’s appropriate. I know that is not an issue at all at my day job, but one client is already requesting face-to-face meetings. My leadership will support me telling them no. BUT WHY WAS I THINK ABOUT IT AT 5:00 AM ON SATURDAY?!
Ugh, sorry about the work anxiety :(. That can really ruin a weekend. I’m glad you had a lot of good things to make up for it. I love the card from the cats!
It can ruin so much! And it’s like “WHY BRAIN WHY?!” Sigh. Usually Saturday mornings are so relaxing but that rattled me.
Oh my gosh, that card! I am keeping it forever because it makes me giggle so much!
Meow-bitch. I cannot stop giggling. That card was so funny!!!
I have missed Mexican food so much during the pandemic. I just want to sit down to a bowl of warm tortilla chips and salsa, with a plate of cheese enchiladas coming as soon as the chips are gone. That doesn’t translate well to takeout; the chips are cold and greasy and the cheese is congealed by the time you get it home. Glad you are still able to enjoy El Famous. I am El Jealous. 😉
I cannot stop laughing either!!! Especially at the “Hopefully you can respect that.”
Yes yes yes! Mexican is better IN the restaurant, and so blah when we try to make it at home. And how about some table-side guac? YUM!!! Have you guys been doing any takeout? I can’t remember! El Famous is not very warm when we get it home, but it’s still better than what we make 😉 El Jealous!!! Buah ha ha.
So nice of Khali to sign the card on behalf of her siblings! I guess it makes sense – they’re probably not old enough to have legible penmanship yet like she has. Someday! 😉
The goslings are so cute!! Saturday was Global Big Day in the birding community, where birdwatchers are supposed to go out to see and record as many birds as they can. There aren’t really any great places to bird around here, but there’s a little pond within walking distance, so that’s where I did my birding. I saw two Canada Geese and got a little anxious that they’d have babies or eggs and be extra mean, so I gave them a wide berth to avoid being hissed at. I didn’t see any goslings in the area, so they left me alone, but then I wondered if goslings have started to hatch yet. Clearly they have!
Yuck, I don’t blame you about being anxious over people wanting to meet in person. I’m surprised there are people that want that, honestly! Nothing about our current state of affairs makes me want to be face-to-face with other humans unless it’s unavoidable for my health.
Yeah, as the oldest, she has to take care of these things! LOL.
Oh cool! I bet there were lots of people at the preserve by our home for that. I see people there with HUGE lenses. I want to be like “that’s a red-winged black bird. They are a-holes. Don’t bother taking their picture.” Ha ha ha. I wonder if you will have any goslings in your hood! I always feel so sad for the “couples” without them. Ha.
Right? Sigh, this person always wants to fly in for meetings that could be ten minute phone calls (or even an email) then they sometimes last all day 🙁
The food pics all got me like (insert drool emoji). Sounds like a nice weekend! Love the card. 😉 Sorry about the work anxiety. 🙁
I am glad they do! That breakfast sandwich was so good.
The card was the #1 highlight of the weekend!!!!
Thanks. I wish it didn’t randomly pop in to my head. I don’t want to think about work at all on the weekend!
Love the card! Hilarious and so true 🙂
Sorry you had to deal with work anxiety and that it messed up your sleep – I hate when that happens…I do think flying in for 10 minute meetings is going to be a thing of the past for most companies when they have now discovered they can save a lot of money having video conferences, don’t you?
I really really hope that becomes a thing of the past! We’ve been pushing it for a long time where I work, for many reasons, but keeping everyone healthy should be our #1 reason!
Oh wow, both of those breakfasts look so tasty. I’m not typically a breakfast person, but those pictures gave me a craving…and what a bonus that Steven made them for you (and plated them nicely).
I love goslings! They’re so funny and awkward. How many did you see?
They were both so good! I am not big in to making anything other than oatmeal (and sometimes pancakes) so I appreciate it when Steven made these!
I saw 6 earlier in my run and then 12-15 later. They’re so cute when they’re goslings!!! <3
I can’t stop laughing about that card! It’s purr-fect! I hope Apollo and Starbuck had a great birthday!!
Mmm… homemade pancakes. That sounds delicious! I’m not much of a breakfast person, but I could definitely house some pancakes right now.
Sorry about the work anxiety! I can’t believe a client is requesting a face-to-face meeting. Come on now!! Ugh. I’m glad you don’t have to do that, but what a mess anyway. <3
I am still laughing about it! And thanks, I think they did! They got shreds for dinner, and we got out some old toys from the basement they’d never seen and they liked them!
Do you have a pancake recipe you like? Or maybe takeout from a diner… yum!
