- Ha, I found spots all over the windows and closet doors in our bedroom and could not figure out what they were from! It finally dawned on me early in the am as I was spraying at Apollo with the water bottle because he was waking us up too early – the spots are from my poor water bottle aim. HA.
- I support a few podcasts and one artist on Patreon. As part of supporting the dailypurrr artist, I got a dailypurrr style drawing of our cats (oops, sorry I excluded you, Khali). This account cracks me the hell up. Follow it on Instagram! The delivery on there is funnier, because you see the line drawing, wonder what the hell is going on, then swap to reveal the photo that inspired it.
- This is old news, but Shalane Flanagan is my favorite (now retired) distance runner, and she’s been talking about wanting to adopt for a while, and I was so excited to see her bring home her son Jack last week! All the heart emojis!
- Ha, I’ve had some amazingly silly blogging requests lately. One was to post an infographic about dogs because I wrote about hot dogs once. Huh? The other was to post content for Adidas for free, with the chance to maybe get paid some day down the road, for something else. No thanks! (But hey, Asics, hit me up.)
- I learned a new weather phrase on Sunday – pneumonia front. It’s when the cool water in the lake develops a lake breeze that causes a huge temperature drop, and is unique to the western Lake Michigan shoreline in the spring/early summer,. From wikipedia: “These fronts are defined as lake-modified synoptic scale cold fronts that result in one-hour temperature drops of 16 °F (8.9 °C) or greater.” We definitely had one of those Sunday night! It was in the 70s and dropped fast to the 40s. Brrr.

I love that Daily Purr drawing! I had never heard of them before but now I definitely have to check them out 🙂
Yes, please do! The posts always bring a smile to my face!
I got that Adidas one as well, and had to read it twice because I thought “surely they can’t mean this” – yep, they did. OK, whatever Adidas…
That is a really cute drawing of your kitties! I’ll have to check out Daily Purr.
Same! They were VERY clear it was for NO compensation. LOLOL. No.
Thanks! Check it out! It’s funny and cute.
Pneumonia front is so interesting, both as a term and a concept! Based on the Wikipedia page, I’ve experienced at least four. I’m surprised I don’t remember them more clearly – it sounds like a very memorable phenomenon! The lake-related weather phenomenon that sticks in my mind more is when the lake generates a ton of fog in the late afternoon, and you can literally see it coming into the city during your evening commute. It usually happens in the spring, I think? That’s when I remember it happening most. I’m sure it’s a lake temperature vs. air temperature vs. humidity thing, but it is really fascinating to see!
Had you heard of it before? I’m surprised it has not happened more times. But I guess I am thinking of lake effect, which is just when it’s cooler by the lake, not the huge drop in temp.
Oh yes, that fog is so cool! I follow some Chicago photography people on Instagram and they’ve had some neat photos of it over the years!
I love that line drawing, it’s so cute. I always see drawings like that and wish I could do it because it looks so “simple,” but you really do have to know the how to draw and have trained your eye to do doodles. Every “doodle” type artist I’ve seen occasionally will post a mind-blowingly detailed and realistic drawing, and I remember how much effort they’ve put into cultivating their skills.
I think for blogging requests, a lot of those are automated “spray and pray” in attempt to get links, since those are the currency of the Internet. I find them so rude and presumptuous, but apparently, some people will actually take them up on it, I guess as a quid pro quo thing.
They do look so simple but I know if I tried it would be horrible! You are right that it requires skill, no matter how detailed it is. I wonder if this guy has posted other work. I should watch in his Instagram stories!
That is exactly how I feel about them too. And I know they just want links and that is NOT going to happen. Do you get request to fix links on really old posts that are now broken, with their link? I am like… I don’t care that that link is broken. I wrote it ten years ago. (and that is why any article I link to I make a pdf of – in case the link goes away, and in case the person reading it can’t access it to due to article limitations from some new sources.)
