A few highlights from the weekend!
Ha, I realized after posting this that the first picture looks like improper face mask wearing! I was not wearing a buff then because I was around people – I was wearing it to keep snow off my face. I pull it over my nose when I approach people.
Friday
- Doing my Saturday morning wake-up routine on Friday (get up, feed the cats, read, go back to bed for an hour).
- Finishing my long run feeling really strong.
- Aldi having our favorite kind of salad (they were out last week).
- Finishing my burrito from Thursday night during lunch (photo above from Thursday night).
- Taking a nap with Steven.
- Watching The Beverly Hillbillies movie with Steven. (We watched Team America: World Police the night before – we were in the mood for silly, funny movies.)
Saturday
- My heart filling with joy hearing how Gina’s local friends celebrated her 40th birthday while practicing social distancing (with a fun sign in the yard and a parade).
- Getting a really sweet note from Luca saying I’m the best aunt in the world.
- Napping with the kitties.
- Finishing a book I enjoyed.
Sunday
- Feeling great on my long run despite getting little sleep (the nap before was too late in the day!).
- The cuticle trimmer I ordered arriving. Hopefully I will use that and quit picking at the skin around my nails.
- Hanging out with Steven in the garage (he installed conduit on Saturday and did some wiring Sunday).
- Vacuuming the entire house and tidying up. I enjoy cleaning and it felt good to get that done!
Lowlights
- The long line at Starbucks. Ha. It was snowy and cold on Friday and a chai latte sounded soooo good. I drove by Starbucks on my way home from Aldi, but the line was too long and dangerous (going in to the street) to get in, so I drove home. That’s the normal there now and I do not NEED a chai but it sounded amazing and I was hopeful I could stop. There will be plenty more hot Starbucks chais on snowy cold days in my future!
- Having a pressure headache on Saturday.
And the cute llama?
That is a craft my snis got me two weekends ago that I am still working on! 🙂
The llama is so cute! And I love napping with kitties 🙂
Thanks! I was really frustrated with him at first because the kit advises starting with the small areas and they were impossible! It’s going better now.
Napping with them is the best!!!
Sounds like a nice, chill weekend. 🙂 The cats look relaxed too. Zzzzz
It was! I wouldn’t mind most weekends being this lazy 😉
The lines at Starbucks are unbelievable. Some of our grocery stores have a Sbux in the store (just like Tarjayjay does) and the line for that is usually wrapped halfway around the store! I guess I’m glad I like non-fancy coffee that I brew at home 🙂 But it sucks that you couldn’t get a treat when you wanted!
I’m jealous of all those naps!
I can totally see the line being that long at the in store Starbucks. Are the people in it waiting 6′ apart from one another?
Ha, yeah! Better if you like what you brew at home! My at home chais are okay (having one now) but no where near as good as Starbucks! I will get one someday!
They were great! I hadn’t done a weekend nap in a long time and it felt so good to (even though one was to get rid of a headache).
Umm that llama is a freaking DELIGHT and I cannot wait to see the finished product! He’s very stylish with his pink flourishes! Also, true story: since the llama picture was next to the picture of Steven with electrical wiring (I assume?), I thought that you had gotten him to build you a yarn spool holder, and that’s what he was assembling in the picture hahahaha. The wire looked like yarn to me! Hahaha.
Thanks! That encourages me to finish it!
Ha ha ha, that would be amazing! The cats would LOVE that, too! And yes, it is electrical wiring, good eye! More on that later this week!
Napping is the theme of my weekends as of late. I’m trying to enjoy it! At the very least in all of this, I have become VERY well-rested, haha.
I passed by a Starbucks on Saturday morning to see a line of cars out onto the street, too! I haven’t really missed Starbucks all that much, which is surprising. I used to have it a few times a week!
I think that’s awesome. And so many of us feel more worn out and tired than usual, so why not nap if it actually helps?!
I am glad you are not missing it since the lines are hella long there too! What did you like to get? You like the peppermint stuff in the winter, right?
I’ve given up on Starbucks until this is over – the drive thru lines are insane. I have a Nespresso machine and a milk frother so I can make a pretty mean latte at home, but sometimes you just want that Starbucks drink, and I know you know that!
The wiring on spools looks like a neat storage system. Maybe that’s what it is, maybe not…?
Yes, exactly! I just want that treat. We’ll both enjoy once when it’s not as crazy out. What kind of lattes do you like to make at home?
Yes, that’s exactly what it is! More on that in tomorrow’s post! Good eye 🙂
Do you prefer to clean all in one go or do short periods during the week? I think I prefer the latter (10-20 minutes a day). I always like how clean everything feels afterwards though!
What’s your favorite salad from Aldi?
I’m glad Gina had a special birthday celebration! I kind of roll my eyes when I hear about that stuff just randomly on the Internet, so it’s great to hear about it happening to someone I know something about, rather than a strange.
I prefer to get the majority of it done in a big chunk over the weekend, because of all the things I need to get out and move to clean. I tidy up and spot clean each day though!
It’s a butter lettuce salad. The week before they only had iceberg and the romaine mix.
Yeah, I have seen a lot of that lately too – with random people on the internet (all the teacher parades) and with a lot of local friends. Apparently a lot of people I know have had birthdays in the past 30+ days!
