A few highlights from the weekend (starting with Thursday because I had a three day weekend)!
Thursday
- Receiving a cute card in the mail from my snis.
- My first Houseparty experience. My friend/coworker Kim and I mostly used it to video chat, but we did do some trivia at the end, which was fun!
- Cookies from Foxship Bakery! Foxship is a Chicago bakery and Steven ordered their assorted 6-pack and OH EM GEE they are delicious! They’re thick, chewy, and the perfect level of moistness. We ate all six throughout the weekend and here is our rating of most delicious to delicious: Oatmeal Raisin, Birthday Cake, Double Chocolate, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, and Snickerdoodle.
- Finishing season one of Homeland.
Friday
- Getting the shingles on the north side of the roof started.
- Friends opening packages I sent them.
- Chatting with my Mom on the phone.
Saturday
- Waking up early, reading in bed, then going back to sleep for an hour. This seems to be my new Saturday routine and it’s very relaxing.
- Chatting with Bobbi through the window for a minute when she stopped by to drop off broccoli.
- Catching up with my paternal Grandma on the phone.
- A video chat with Steven’s family.
Sunday
- Feeling strong on my long run.
- A surprise in the mail from my snister.
- Sitting in the sun while doing ground support for Steven’s roof work (and getting most of the north side of the roof done).
- FaceTime with Gina and family.
Lowlights
- People I care about’s personal (financial) hardships related to COVID-19.
- Being up for two hours in the middle of Saturday night. My sleep is weird lately – I’m either up way too early or awake for an hour or two around 1:00 am.
- The Sunday Scaries.
I hadn’t heard of house party before, I’ll have to check it out. And that yarn art looks so fun!
I like it so far! I want to check out the other games on it.
OMG the yarn thing is SO HARD. I am not dexterous and it shows!
Oh man, I was unaware of Foxship Bakery, but I just checked out their website and omg. QUARTER POUND COOKIES?! Finally someone makes a quarter pounder that I actually want! (jk. I also definitely want quarter pounder cheeseburgers. But quarter pounder cookies sound even better!). I’m glad you ranked them – you know I love your rankings! Birthday cake sounds AMAZING!
Ha ha ha, I love this comment! I didn’t even realize they were advertised as quarter pound cookies until I went on to their site to order more! They’re so thick and delish! Maybe even better than a cheeseburger 😉 Do you think you might order some? The price is $$, especially with shipping, but I am like, eh, supporting a small business. I ordered more birthday cake and oatmeal raisin for our freezer, and am going to send some of my friends with April birthdays the birthday cake ones!!! So good!!!
I have to ask – what are the Sunday Scaries?
I am lazy so I pulled this from Google “The Sunday Scaries are the anxiety that sets in on Sunday nights with the impending return to the office, school, or work.” So for me, it was work anxiety!
Ah ok – gotcha! Totally understandable!
What a fun weekend! You make me feel like I need to step ours up a bit, LOL.
Aww thanks! And I bet you don’t need to! All you have to do is make this little list of things you enjoy and it seems like you did a lot! Ha!
Gosh, those cookies look divine! Now I need to find a bakery around here that’s delivering right now. Haven’t been able to find anything on UberEats just yet, wah.
I’m glad you’re getting in lots of videochatting and talking on the phone! That’s so important right now – it’s hard to feel so isolated from people and everyday life.
I hope you find something as delicious there!
Yeah, I am glad I am too! I think it’s really helping me 🙂
