- Did you see the headline this week that if they can’t have the Olympics in 2021, they will be canceled, not postponed again? Let’s hope our world is healthy and they can happen!
- Damn you Instagram and your targeted ads! You know I’m craving a chai! I always laugh when I see “chai tea” because chai means tea so it’s like saying “tea tea.” Hee hee. (also, I finally swiped up on the “learn more” and saw this ad was actually a chai recipe)
- Speaking of creepy targeted stuff… my phone seems to know what I do when I finish a run, so much now that it’s suggesting I open my training stats spreadsheet right after. That is what I usually do…
- A lot of the words on my daily calendar don’t seem like ones I would use, but I would like to introduce gormandize to my vocabulary.
- Google Hangouts finally came out with a tile view, in response to Zoom’s popularity. Yay! We use Hangouts at work for video, and you couldn’t see everyone’s video before. Now you can!
- Speaking of work, our IT team rocks. A very important file of mine mysteriously disappeared last Friday and I was about to lose my sh*t, but they were able to bring it back from a backup. Crisis averted! (and now I am saving it to the drive and locally each day)
- Media update! We’re on season 5 of Homeland. We didn’t make it through all eight seasons during our month long free trial, darn it! Ha.

It is creepy how technology seems to know what we’re doing all the time! And that’s good news that your IT team was able to recover the lost document. That would have really stressed me out.
It is!
Oh my gosh, I was about to have a panic attack when I thought that file was gone (it’s my tracking sheet for all my projects that I’ve been updating daily for years)! I kept thanking them over and over when they found it!
Oh man, I hadn’t heard that about the Olympics. Hope this can be fixed enough to hold the games; I feel sorry for the athletes with the delay already.
My computer/phone/iPad always suggests something AFTER I’ve bought a similar item, which kind of makes me laugh because I’m all “dude, I just bought this, I don’t need another one” and also makes me cringe at how much it knows.
Me too! I get more excited for them every cycle as an adult and really hope they happen!
Ha! Creeper status, but on delay! Trying to be all cool, but still creepy π
More importantly – have you printed that file and put it in the time capsule as we discussed?
Yes! But just last Friday when it happened. How often should I put the printed version in the time capsule?!?!?!
You need to print them every day, and hide a new time capsule every Friday. Place them strategically in your yard. Dig your hole at least 5′ deep. Mark them each with decoy ducks with the date printed on the bottom. No one will EVER KNOW.
Here’s a great price on a 6 pack, although you will probably need like 50+ https://www.amazon.com/AvianX-Flight-Water-Mallard-Decoy/dp/B009Z0DSUK?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2
God speed.
Ordered! And will begin work on it immediately! Thanks for the idea!!!!!!
For a long time, Siri suggested that I set alarms for 5:45 in the morning. Joke’s on you, Siri! I’m not getting up at 5:45 on purpose anytime in the foreseeable future! Oddly, she hasn’t prompted me to set any alarms for my quarantine wake-up time (7:15). I’m going to be really annoyed if she starts telling me to set 7:15 alarms after I have to go back to the office, whenever that is.
The Olympics are such a tough thing. I mean, obviously it would be wildly reckless to hold them this year, and cancelling them was the right call. It’s just so tricky with these things that people time intentionally, you know? Like I know some women in their upper end of their childbearing years who planned to try to get pregnant this year, and they don’t really have the luxury of putting that off until who knows when. The Olympics feel very similar. There are some things you can put off indefinitely due to the pandemic, but your if window of opportunity for doing some physical things (like getting pregnant, or being at your physical peak for a particular sport) that you probably really, really, REALLY wanted to do happens to fall during the middle of the pandemic…ugh. It seems really sucky π
Gross, Siri, 5:45 am is just GROSS. Ha ha ha. You know she is going to suggest those alarms when she realizes you are leaving the house (hopefully less!) for work again.
I’ve read quite a few articles about athletes having to put off getting pregnant (Aliphine!) and athletes who felt like it was pushing it (age-wise) for this to be their last Olympics. And then we aren’t even talking about payment for race appearances they would have done to prep or qualify for the Olympics… or there are no races to qualify. Yeah, it’s so sucky. And yes, sucky for anyone who was considering getting pregnant now, no matter their profession. A hospital seems like such a scary place to go to right now, for anything!
That’s so sad about the Olympics! That has to be devastating for those who worked so hard for so long. I hope they’re still able to happen in 2021! Gosh, why couldn’t this have happened to the WINTER Olympics, man? I *live* for the Summer Olympics. Winter? Eh.
Our phones know wayyyy too much about it. I remember seeing something on my home screen about “it will take you 16 minutes to get to work today” and was like, “WHY DO YOU KNOW THAT??” It’s creepy. Sometimes my phone prompts me to open my Serial Reader app if I’m getting behind on my daily readings, and it basically feels like a disappointed teacher. π
I left my daily calendar at work, and I’m sad about all the cute kitties I’m not seeing! π
I really hope so too. I can’t imagine putting all that work in to prep only to find out they are canceled, again! LOL re: winter Olympics. Ha ha ha.
One time I was in the car with someone (both passengers) and they were like, oh, my phone says it will take us 13 mins to get home from here, where we were already in transit on the highway. And I was like “uhhh, you want your phone to be tracking you to tell you that stuff?!” Some times it’s helpful, but a lot of the time, I am like, I can look it up myself. I hate when my phone asks if I want to unsubscribe from the podcasts I am behind on. NO! I am just behind.
Oh no! You will have to carve out some time when you go back to look through and truly appreciate each one!!!
Did the tea-tea recipe look like one you want to try? (I always yell “SANDWICHES SANDWICH!” when I see “panini sandwich.”) I’ve been missing boba milk tea, so I was thinking I’d order the ingredients and try making it at home.
It didn’t! I appreciated that it was an actual recipe though, and not some much an add!
Ha, I didn’t think about that! Now I will too!
Ooo, I hope you share it with us when you make it!
