Notes:
- I felt physically fine after the half last Sunday, I just had sore feet (the bottoms). The main reason I wasn’t sore is because we walked so much after the race (about 4 miles). Active recovery for the win!
- This has been such a fun week for post trials interviews and articles. I loved Aliphine’s twitter race recap (read here), and the interview she did with her teammates (listen here). (And yes, I am listening to non-Aliphine stuff too!)
- I found this idea about taking two gels at once very useful from Aliphine’s twitter recap. I always just take one, then sometimes am too hungry. KIM, YOU CAN TAKE TWO. I actually did this on my long run Saturday!
- I am signed up for the Milwaukee Half Marathon on April 11th. I don’t want to bonk shortly after mile 10 like I did in Atlanta, so I’m going to make sure to run longer than that in my training!
So many gels, LOL – I’m sure she burns through the calories so quickly that the gel energy zips through her. I’m curious how you’ll do with more fuel during your next race!
Elite fueling is so interesting! I’v read/heard a lot of them just take something in their bottles. That they wait every 5K to drink blows my mind – but they get there a lot quicker than I do, ha! Anyway, that is a lot of gels for the end of a race, and I wonder what Aliphine was drinking leading up to it!
I think I need a little more food (gels) and Vitamin water, but I don’t want to wear my vest to a half marathon!!! I could carry that in my hand and take water on the course!
