- The past two weeks, instead of running one night each week, I took the night off and relaxed when I got off of work… and it was amazing. I don’t have a crazy busy weeknight schedule, but it felt so nice to end work and have nothing “to do” (other than figure out dinner with Steven).
- I was using my new Starbucks Atlanta mug and saw the capitol building on there and regretted not visiting it while we were there. We could have walked to it! I was just too out of it after my race Sunday to make touristy decisions.
- I had my first experience this week with doing something other than a handshake to meet someone new – we did an elbow tap.
- We just got tickets to see Steve Miller Band in June! That’s the one classic rock band Steven loves and I am excited to go with him and my parents!

Steve Miller puts on a great show. You will love it! I first saw him at Hilton, probably 20 years ago.
Yay! I am so excited to hear that! When I saw the email about the tickets I was so excited right away. I had no idea he was still touring!!! And my dad hasn’t seen him before, so he’s pumped too. And Steven said yes right away (concerts aren’t his thing, so that was a big deal). YAY!
I LOVE the feeling of coming home from work (or just finishing work, if you’re already at home) and not having anything else to do! It’s such a treat when that’s not your normal habit. I always take the week after the marathon completely off of exercise, and the whole week I’m like, “I have SO MUCH TIME! I can do SO MANY THINGS!!” (Until like Thursday or so, when I start to get antsy and miss my routine, ha.)
I knew you would understand this since we talked about it so recently! It feels so luxurious (you’re right, until you get antsy after a while!). Has it happened for you lately?
It did a couple of weeks ago when I had a cold! Though that wasn’t quite the same thing, haha. If the Shuffle goes on, I’ll take the day off after the race, but I’m not at all optimistic that the race is going to happen (and frankly, I don’t think it should. 20,000+ people needing to attend packet pickup in a small ballroom at McCormick, 20,000+ people standing in cold corrals waiting for the race to start while their noses run and they wipe them with their gloves, which they later use to grab cups of water from volunteers, who then grab other cups to hand out to other people that will be putting those cups on their mouths…nothing about having a race of that size seems to align with any of the staying-healthy best practices. Plus, I’m sure we all agreed to no refunds, no exceptions when we signed up, so it’s not like they have anything to lose. People will be outraged for two days and swear they’ll never run a Bank of America race again, and then they’ll get over it and show up next year.)
No, a cold is NOT the same thing. You need a real night off.
Gah, I am surprised it’s not canceled yet. It should be for all the reasons you mention. It’s such a big race! And yeah, people will sign up for it again. I wonder if they will straight up cancel, or postpone. Probably cancel. Stay smart if it’s not canceled and you go!
That mug is so cute and playful – love the font on Atlanta!
I really like it too! And the inside is my fave color – orange!
Do you have the Atlanta mug?
I love that feeling of coming home after work and not having anything that I have to do! Especially if dinner is already made 🙂
YES!!!! It’s the best!!! I hope you have some days like that in your future!
