A few highlights from the weekend!

Friday

  • Having the day off and being able to nap in the morning. Waking up at 3:50 am every Friday to teach leaves me exhausted by midday and I’m grateful for the days off where I can nap when I get home from teaching. (Sustainable? No. I’d like to quit teaching this class, but enjoy teaching it – just not how the wakeup time makes me feel.)
  • The trails being mostly clear! We had an extremely mild winter here, but it stayed cold enough to keep the snow on the trails for some time. I was excited to see they’re mostly clear on my Friday run, albeit super squishy and rutty.

Saturday

  • A lovely long run listening to more Olympic Marathon Trials focused podcasts. So many of the people interviewed talk about community and training in a group. It makes me want to run with people.
  • Taking the storage rack out of the house garage so Steven can park in there.
  • Getting to see Bobbi and John and the kids when they came over to help.

Sunday

  • Finishing a moving book. (Not a book about moving… a book that moved me, ha ha)
  • Getting another early morning run in. I feel great when I start my day early with a run. Not sure how it happened, naturally, two days in a row, especially after losing an hour of sleep.
  • A surprise visit from my older brother and his fam. My older brother and his family came to Chicagoland for a car show, and they stopped by the house Sunday, then we got lunch together. It was fun to catch up, and of course, show them Dragonstone!
  • Redeeming a free item at Bath & Body Works. I’m doing well not spending any money there this year, although after I gave my 20% off coupon to someone in the store and left, I remembered I have a $25 gift card I could have used. Ha. I will wait until I “need” something. (Also, while I was there, people were buying LOTS of hand sanitizer. I had wondered if they’d be sold out.)
