A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Having the day off and being able to nap in the morning. Waking up at 3:50 am every Friday to teach leaves me exhausted by midday and I’m grateful for the days off where I can nap when I get home from teaching. (Sustainable? No. I’d like to quit teaching this class, but enjoy teaching it – just not how the wakeup time makes me feel.)
- The trails being mostly clear! We had an extremely mild winter here, but it stayed cold enough to keep the snow on the trails for some time. I was excited to see they’re mostly clear on my Friday run, albeit super squishy and rutty.
Saturday
- A lovely long run listening to more Olympic Marathon Trials focused podcasts. So many of the people interviewed talk about community and training in a group. It makes me want to run with people.
- Taking the storage rack out of the house garage so Steven can park in there.
- Getting to see Bobbi and John and the kids when they came over to help.
Sunday
- Finishing a moving book. (Not a book about moving… a book that moved me, ha ha)
- Getting another early morning run in. I feel great when I start my day early with a run. Not sure how it happened, naturally, two days in a row, especially after losing an hour of sleep.
- A surprise visit from my older brother and his fam. My older brother and his family came to Chicagoland for a car show, and they stopped by the house Sunday, then we got lunch together. It was fun to catch up, and of course, show them Dragonstone!
- Redeeming a free item at Bath & Body Works. I’m doing well not spending any money there this year, although after I gave my 20% off coupon to someone in the store and left, I remembered I have a $25 gift card I could have used. Ha. I will wait until I “need” something. (Also, while I was there, people were buying LOTS of hand sanitizer. I had wondered if they’d be sold out.)
Yikes, waking up at 3:50am on Fridays sounds tough! Glad you were able to get a nap in this past Friday.
Me too! I often use my every other Friday off for travel or other plans so I don’t always get to take it! I love it when I do!
Oof, a 3:50AM alarm is no bueno. I’m glad you were able to nap this Friday at least! I live and die by my Friday afternoon naps. One of the reasons I’m being so lax on my job hunt, lol. It’s going to be SO difficult to give up half-day Fridays.
It’s crazy to me the way people are preparing for COVID. I’m definitely trying to be better about washing my hands, especially after being in a public space. Maybe I need a Bath & Body Works visit to stock up on hand sanitizer! Hmmmm.
I totally understand that! A huge reason I took this job was because of the schedule that allows us to have every other Friday off, along with flexible start time, and then, all the benefits and job security.
I am paying better attention to that too, and to not touching my face when I am outside of the house. Let me know what scents you get if you go! They have tiny little bottles of them, but they last me a long time!
