It’s definitely NOT Thursday, but let’s roll with it. Will there be a RTT on Thursday? Who knows!
- I’ve mentioned this before, but I totally get the book club allure now! When I was invited to join one years ago I wasn’t reading and didn’t want to be told what to read (or see myself fitting in in that group). But now I’m so in to it I’ve started two book clubs. Here is the beautiful (sarcasm) logo I made last night for the group we’re testing in my Monday night class.
Designer, I am not
- Speaking of books, I just heard an ex-coworker came out with a memoir and there is a chapter on our office. And it’s juicy. I may need to read that.
- I’ve been thinking about going to Atlanta for the Olympic Marathon Trials since it’s been announced it would be there – so almost two years. It’s a dream of mine to spectate the race, and something I’ve been so excited about… until this week. Anxiety from work has been so overwhelming lately that it’s making me feel excitedly about exactly nothing. I know that will change once I am off work, but UGH. QUIT MESSING WITH MY VIBES, WORK.
- I was so sad Amy Cragg had to drop out of the trials due to illness. I’m a big Bowerman Track Club fan, and I was really rooting for her to get a spot on the team! Just typing this, I am getting excited thinking about how close the women’s race will be. There’s hope for my excitement level after all!
- The Tokyo Marathon was recently canceled because of the coronoavirus. That made me wonder about the Olympics, um, since they are supposed to be in Tokyo, and sure enough, there are already articles out saying they are thinking about canceling them if the virus is not contained. Like everyone else, I really hope it’s contained soon, foremost, for people’s health and welfare, and, for all the other repercussions, including events being canceled.
I had the same feelings towards book club that you used to. What changed your mind?
Let me know the juicy deets when you read the memoir! I’m so curious!
I’m also wondering what will happen with the Olympics this summer. I guess we can wait and see.
Reading and wanting to discuss what I am reading so badly with someone who has also read the book made me change my mind. And also, because I like the people I am doing it with π
Will do!
Yeah. Do you think you will still go on your trip to Korea?
Ooh, one of my close friends at work is going to Atlanta to spectate at the trials! I hope the Olympics aren’t canceled but it’s looking more and more likely at this point. This virus is scary! (It’s reminding me of Station Eleven, eeks.)
One of my favorite things to do is look at the Glassdoor reviews of former employees at my company. So juicy! Our company isn’t huge either, so I can often figure out who wrote the review. Haha. You are going to have to read that memoir!
Oh fun! Are they doing the race Sunday too? It is scary. π I really hope it’s not canceled but would understand if they did. It does feel very Station Eleven-y.
Ha, I should look and see if there are Glassdoor ratings for my company. I am definitely going to have to read the memoir. (Although it does not look like one I’d normally pick up!)
I hope all of your work stress melts away during your travels to Atlanta so you can fully enjoy the trials and all of the excitement. And, I hope the Olympics aren’t cancelled. π
I’d totally be reading your ex-coworker’s book! Spill the good stuff when you do!!
Thank you! I think it will!!! I hope they are not canceled too. I am seeing more articles about it today :-/
I will I will!!!!
Wow, if I had a coworker write a memoir that I knew involved work, I’m pretty sure I’d be the first person in line to buy it, haha. Gimme the gossip! Do you know why your ex-coworker wrote a memoir? I usually assume memoirs are written by famous people…unless your ex-coworker is famous! Or people with extraordinary stories, like with Educated.
I’m wondering a lot about the Olympics, too. It would be such a bummer if they had to be cancelled, even though it would obviously make sense. When we came back from Hawaii, I saw on the United app that United had suspended basically all of their flights between the U.S. and China until March (though looking at it now to verify, it says April…not sure if it was April then too? I don’t remember). I thought that seemed crazy excessive at the time, but now it doesn’t seem that way anymore!
I do not know why she wrote it, but I reached out to her last night and we had a nice conversation! She is not famous, but she does have an interesting story. I will send you the link to see π
It would be a bummer. Athletes plan their whole lives around them! But I would understand. And yeah, the travel ban and all the hype seemed like overkill at first, and now, not at all. It’s scary π
Have fun in Atlanta! It sucks when work stress gets in the way of excitement but hopefully that changes soon.
Thank you! I did not think about work ONCE while on vacation and am trying hard to be chill about it this week!
