A few highlights from the weekend!

Friday

  • Finding a new hair stylist I actually like. The last person I went to was rude to me and didn’t cut my hair the way I wanted. This new person was nice, fun to talk to, and listened to how I wanted my hair cut. Yay!
  • Everyone at the nail salon commenting on how nice my hair looked. Ha. I’ve been going to the same nail salon for a couple of years so they know me, and NEVER see me with my hair down. But I kept it down after my hair appointment and a lot of people commented on it, which was nice.
  • Going to “The Greatest Love of All: A Tribute to Whitney Houston” starring Belinda Davids. On Wednesday, my friend Anne from Efit invited me to the show – a friend of hers had won four tickets. This never would have been on my radar, but I love the venue (the Genesee in Waukegan) and know a few Whitney songs. The show was amazing! We were in the eighth row and had a great view, Davids sounded just like Houston, and the band and backup vocals were phenomenal. The best part was the two male dancers, complete with cheesy 80s outfits, dance moves, and big smiles – they made me laugh so hard. The audience was really in to the performance, and that made is very fun. I’m grateful Anne invited me!

Saturday

  • Spending time with one of my favorite coworkers.
  • Making it home in time to take a short nap and go on a short run.
  • Finishing another five-star read.
  • Family dinner.

Sunday

  • Sleeping in. (Ha, working on Saturday really threw me off and I was mostly in errand/chore mode yesterday, and felt pretty out of it.)

Side note

  • I was surprised the Oscars were this weekend. I always think of them being in early March or late February, since the one time we hosted an Oscars party, it was on March 2nd. We didn’t watch them this year – we couldn’t get our antenna to get a solid signal, ha. I still need to seeย Parasite, the big winner! We actually saw a lot of the films nominated for best picture this year, which is unusual for us – usually the best picture nominations are more artsy and obscure.

Lowlights

  • Working downtown on a Saturday. But, I got to park in the building, it all went smoothly, and we got out of there an hour early than we thought we would. And like I said above, I got to spend a lot of time with one of my favorite coworkers!
