A few highlights from the weekend!
Friday
- Finding a new hair stylist I actually like. The last person I went to was rude to me and didn’t cut my hair the way I wanted. This new person was nice, fun to talk to, and listened to how I wanted my hair cut. Yay!
- Everyone at the nail salon commenting on how nice my hair looked. Ha. I’ve been going to the same nail salon for a couple of years so they know me, and NEVER see me with my hair down. But I kept it down after my hair appointment and a lot of people commented on it, which was nice.
- Going to “The Greatest Love of All: A Tribute to Whitney Houston” starring Belinda Davids. On Wednesday, my friend Anne from Efit invited me to the show – a friend of hers had won four tickets. This never would have been on my radar, but I love the venue (the Genesee in Waukegan) and know a few Whitney songs. The show was amazing! We were in the eighth row and had a great view, Davids sounded just like Houston, and the band and backup vocals were phenomenal. The best part was the two male dancers, complete with cheesy 80s outfits, dance moves, and big smiles – they made me laugh so hard. The audience was really in to the performance, and that made is very fun. I’m grateful Anne invited me!
Saturday
- Spending time with one of my favorite coworkers.
- Making it home in time to take a short nap and go on a short run.
- Finishing another five-star read.
- Family dinner.
Sunday
- Sleeping in. (Ha, working on Saturday really threw me off and I was mostly in errand/chore mode yesterday, and felt pretty out of it.)
Side note
- I was surprised the Oscars were this weekend. I always think of them being in early March or late February, since the one time we hosted an Oscars party, it was on March 2nd. We didn’t watch them this year – we couldn’t get our antenna to get a solid signal, ha. I still need to seeย Parasite, the big winner! We actually saw a lot of the films nominated for best picture this year, which is unusual for us – usually the best picture nominations are more artsy and obscure.
Lowlights
- Working downtown on a Saturday. But, I got to park in the building, it all went smoothly, and we got out of there an hour early than we thought we would. And like I said above, I got to spend a lot of time with one of my favorite coworkers!
Your hair does looks great!! I waited too long before switching up hairdressers but I’m really glad I did, finally. Having hair that you are happy with makes such a difference in getting ready each morning, doesn’t it?
I watched the Oscars last night and really enjoyed it. Haven’t seen Parasite yet but my kadults did and they both said it was excellent. Also want to see JoJo Rabbit. I was pleased with all of the winners.
Thanks! I am glad you have a hairdresser you like now, too! LOL, that is actually something I am trying to get more in to this year – actually doing something with my hair other than pulling it back! But I do imagine it will make me feel better once I start ๐
I want to see both of those too!!! It’s exciting a foreign language film won so many awards!
Your hair looks great in that photo! How weird about the last person not doing what you want, that would have driven me crazy. I really want to see Parasite too. For some reason, I thought it was a horror movie until yesterday so it just wasn’t on my radar.
Thank you! Yeah, I tried her because she was local and I wanted to support a small business but… we were a bad fit.
Ha, when I heard the title I thought that too! (about Parasite) It wasn’t until a podcast I listened to explained what it was a while ago that I found out it wasn’t.
Your hair looks beautiful! So great you finally found someone who cuts it the way you want.
My son the movie buff said “Parasite” was one of the best movies he’d ever seen, so I am thinking we should definitely try to see it, now that it won the Oscar.
The Whitney show sounds like it was a lot of fun – she had a lot of great songs. I remember her being a model in “Seventeen” magazine when I was a teenager, and I really looked up to her. So sad the way her life ended, though.
Thanks!
Wow, that is an awesome review! Are you able to stream it there yet? We can here but it’s still kind of $$, ha.
It really is sad how Whitney died ๐ And how her daughter did too ๐
