- I was trying to figure out why I am so damn irritable this week and it finally dawned on me last night – I haven’t run since last Thursday! I took care of that this morning… and was still a little pissy after, but better! Ha, what more can I ask for?
- The fiber in my Noxgear vest broke and I was extremely anxious about not being able to use it for my runs. I rely on that bright blinking vest for drivers (who are looking at the road) to see me. I have other regular vests, but this one is so loud and obnoxious comparatively, I don’t feel like they’re a safe option anymore (in the dark anyway). Thankfully, Steven taped the fiber back together, and a replacement fiber is on the way.
- Yesterday someone was talking to me about genealogy because our last names have the same first three letters and they assumed mine was German too (nope, it’s Lebanese), and it got me thinking about how genealogy is not something I’m interested in right now. I get WHY people are interested in it. I’m just meh about it. I wonder if I will be in to it when I’m older.
- And… speaking of things I am not interested in (how positive! Good job, Kim), my favorite podcast did an episode on true crime in pop culture. I’d heard of all the true crime things they were talking about (podcasts, shows, books), but again, true crime is not my jam! I still haven’t listened to Serial!
- My parents got this cat house for the cats for Christmas and they love it! It cracks me up when two of them get in there together.
We are getting rid of our tree this weekend, eek. The cat house will stay out.Β
Love the cat house!! So cute!!
Your cats need one!
I swear that’s a good deal of my pissiness – not getting to run. Or workout with my trainer right now. I never would have believed exercise could have such a mental benefit but there you go. I’m glad you were finally able to get a run in!
That picture of the two cats in the house is adorable. You know it must be toasty warm inside – cat paradise!
Oh I bet it 100% is and that makes me sad for you π I hope you get to start up again soon.
Yes! We keep sticking our heads in when they are in there and saying it smells like hto cat. Ha.
I got some lights for Christmas last year (2018, that is) that I could clip onto me while running, since I knew I’d be training for my half PR that winter and would feel much more comfortable with something bright and flashing rather than something reflective, even on sidewalks in the city (then, of course, it was cold and icy for who knows how much of that training cycle and I was inside on the treadmill anyway, ha. But it was nice to have them on the rare occasions I could go outside!.) I saw some people wearing vests like yours and wished I had asked for that instead! Those really seem like the best visibility solution for running in the dark, and I’m glad you were able to fix yours!
I didn’t know your last name was Lebanese! I’m surprised someone thought you were both German based on having the same first three letters. I feel like that’s not very much to go off? But I also don’t know much about German last names, so maybe those three are a common way for German last names to start. That being said, if I see someone with a last name with a double a (-aar or -aan especially), I’m definitely going to assume their last name is Dutch, so maybe I’m being hypocritical!
The flashing lights are a good idea too though! Something that makes you look and think “oh, what is that? I should slow down.” Reflective stuff is great, but you don’t see it until you shine your lights on it. Have you used the lights this year? I just got the new fiber and Steven put it in for me, yay!
I was surprised when he said that too, and was immediately thinking he did not look like he has Lebanese heritage. Ha. I think he just wanted to make conversation and talk about what he found out on ancestry.com, which is fine π I would totally make that assumption about Dutch names. THAT makes sense!!!!
Oh goodness, the cats in the cat house – so cute! I love that they snuggle together like that. I have one of those cat houses but only Eloise uses it, and very infrequently, too. It’s not in a great location, though, due to the limited space I have in my apartment. Maybe when I move, I can put it in a better spot and they’ll use it more!
That’s so interesting that someone thought your last name was German because of the first three letters. I wonder why that is! My last name is super German and I honestly hate it. I have to spell it out whenever someone asks me for it over the phone. But because it is “so” German, that’s why I’m interested in genealogy. I’d love to know exactly how German I am and anything else that would entail! (My maternal side is the typical smattering of European – Polish, English, Irish, etc.)
Isn’t it funny to see what some cats love and others are meh about? I will be curious if she uses it more when you move, too! Our cats were immediately like OMG YASSS THANKS and were all using it right away. Ha. It’s so funny to see them in there. I keep waiting for someone to sit on top when someone else is inside, but that has not happened yet.
I would totally have to ask how to spell your last name! Truth! I have to spell mine out a lot, because people hear Staff and then when I spell it they think the Fs are Ss. Ha ha. When are you doing that genealogy test thing you mentioned wanting to do? I am curious to hear what you find out!
…Have you listened to “Serial” yet?!? Just kidding. I was really into true crime podcasts a few years ago(and still fall down that hole every once in a while). I was listening to one about British crime for a while, but I had to stop because all of the crimes were stabbings, and it made me feel queasy and voyeuristic.
I didn’t even notice both kitties in the house at once (just Khali’s big head, haha). I like that it has plush sides. Will you leave it out all year-round even though it’s got a holiday look?
Buah ha ha. Maybe I will someday! I can totally see feeling that way after listening to one about so many stabbings. I guess most of the true crime stuff is going to be somewhat violent… right?
I probably will leave it out, even though I shouldn’t!!!
