- We had a divisional townhall all day at work yesterday, and personal photos people submitted were shared throughout the day. Of course, I shared a picture of the garage, and all day, people were asking me questions about it, or saying they didn’t know I basically lived in Wisconsin. Ha. It was nice people were interested.
- This is one of the first years in a long time we’ve seen more than half of the films nominated for Best Picture for the Oscars. We saw 1917 this week, and I’ve requested Joker, Jojo Rabbit, and Parasite from the library. We’ve seen the rest – Ford v Ferrari, The Irishman, Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, and Little Women (me only).
- I mentioned I got a pair of Rothys last week and someone asked for a review. They’re comfortable, but I have running related toe issues right now and NO flats feel good on my toes for very long, so I can’t give a fair review! I hope I end up loving them since I can throw them in the wash.
- Shitterfly had “free” notebooks yesterday so I ordered a new one for work and went really cat-crazy on it meow ha ha.
Proceed below for whiny RTT:
- In your line of work, do you work on projects that last years? I do, and I sometimes struggle with the endurance of it.
- I need a polite way of telling people I just want to vent – I don’t want advice.
- I wish people would stop sharing heartbreaking animal stories with me. Edited to add: about things they read in the news or something horrible they saw. I want to hear about their pets.
- As an update to my Walgreens Photo issue – the store called me Monday and Tuesday to let me know my order was there. Yay. So I went in on Wednesday, told the clerk I had an online order to pick up and he told me it wasn’t there. Grrr. I gave him all my info, and he kept looking and telling me it wasn’t there, and I repeated again it was an online order and they told me it was there, and he was like “OH AN ONLINE ORDER YOU HAVE TO TELL ME THAT.” Then I visually found it and pointed it out to him and he gave it to me without checking my ID. Yay? (The bummer is that after all this, the order quality is subpar and not a good replacement for the the 2×3 Shitterfly magnets), so I am not even going to use them.)
I feel so honored to be on your notebook
PS – I didn’t think this post was whiny at all!
Of course you’re on there! Twice! :-*
Thanks! It felt whiny. Ha.
Oh, I like the idea of the shared photos during your townhall! I’m glad it was a good experience (people asking you interesting questions), rather than a boring or uncomfortable one.
I think you’ve said this before, but what kinds of stuff do you put in your notebooks? Do you reserve a notebook for a certain type of content (work vs. home vs. hobbies, for example)?
It’s really fun to see all the pics! There was this joke how one guy at work was in almost every pic… but he couldn’t make the townhall. We laughed every time “oh, there’s X again!” Ha. There were boring moments, but some really fun ones throughout the day.
One is all for work notes – I still take notes by hand. And the other is for home where I make lists, write down blog posts ideas, or draft out posts, etc. Right now my work one and home one covers match and I am all :-o.
YOUR CAT EBOOK COVER. I need that… even though I *just* bought my cover and really like it, haha. I think you showed it to me before.
The venting issue is so tough! I am pretty good at listening and not trying to give advice. (Although I definitely struggle with how to respond because I never want to diminish their feelings!) Sometimes, there’s no advice that can help. It’s just a situation that sucks and it’s more helpful to just talk it out without needing it to be fixed. <3
I would say YES GET IT! But no, you are saving money and watching your spending 😉
Oh, I bet you are a great listener. And great at not diminishing and just letting people speak 🙂
I so feel you on the venting but not wanting advice thing. I think that’s a huge struggle, both for the venter and the vented-to. Even though I know most of the time when I complain, I’m not looking for solutions or advice–I just want to get it off my chest–I still have a hard time trying to not give people advice when they vent to me. It’s hard to not want to help people, even when they don’t want to be helped! A couple of weeks ago I was LIVID about something that happened, and I texted my sister to complain about it and started the text with, “Hello! You are about to receive a complaint from me. Your expected response is, ‘Yes, Bethany, [person’s name] is being ridiculous! I agree with you!’ Thank you for your unwitting agreement in this arrangement.” And I’ll be darned, when she responded with exactly what I told her to say, it made me feel a lot better! Maybe that’s the best way to complain without getting advice haha.
I think that is a great idea to say something like that. Especially when it’s your sis and you can be jokey but she knows you are serious. I really struggled when Khali ran away. I didn’t tell people about it because I knew they would tell me what to do, and that is exactly what happened from a lot of people when I did post about it. I just wanted support.
