Apollo would like to take a moment to educate you about the common but not well known Christmas Tree Ear Syndrome (CTES).
Christmas Tree Ear Syndrome is when you have sticky sap from the Christmas tree on your ear.
Unfortunately, the cause is unknown and may never be discovered. But Apollo is dedicating his life to researching the cause so CTES can be eradicated.
Symptoms/signs include:
- Sticky sap on your ear
- Embarrassment
- Your ear smelling like a Christmas tree
Luckily (for humans) there is a cure – cleaning your cat’s ear with a warm wet towel. The cat may or may not like this.
The more drastic approach of NOT having a live Christmas tree at all may be taken too, if you want to avoid CTES completely.
Apollo is willing to take the risk, but wanted to share this info with other cats out there – be careful when innocently sitting by or approaching the tree!
So brave. Thank you for sharing your story to raise awareness, Apollo!
He says you are welcome! And to maybe warn Violet – it could happen to dogs too!
What color ribbon should I wear to raise awareness for this? Ha ha. What is with cats and Christmas tree skirts? Mine have always made a beeline for under the tree, as soon as the skirt comes out of the box.
Sparkly silver! Ha!
I think they feel like they are hiding in the woods or something. Dorks! It’s so cute though.
Thank you, Apollo, for raising awareness of such an important syndrome. π Please be careful this holiday season!
He says you’re welcome and thank you! And that he hopes your girls don’t get CTES!
