Posting this a day early because of the holiday tomorrow!
- To save time during garage construction I’ve been doing grocery delivery rather than order and pickup. Guys, it’s amazing. I may stick with it after we’re done with the garage. The delivery cost is worth it compared to the time it would take to drive to the stores and to do something I don’t enjoy – shopping.
- I mailed our holiday cards this week! That is the one holiday thing I’m feeling on top of this year.
- Well, plus a few presents. I have such a hard time not talking about what I am getting people. Basically, everyone but the gift receiver knows what I got them because I can’t help myself.
- I like to order a chai to pick up from Starbucks on my way to the office. I order it when I am about 7 minutes away, then usually have to wait 5 minutes for it to be ready. This week, I decided to order it when I was 15 minutes away, so it would be ready when I got there, and I got this message asking me to consider placing the order when I got closer to the store. NO! I REFUSE!!!! I want it ready! Ha.
- Last Sunday at the end of my run, our neighbor was walking his three dogs (great dane, rottweiler, and mastiff) off leash and they ran up to me. Sigh, not a fan of that. As they slobbered and bumped all over me, I said to them, my cats aren’t going to like this when I get home! They did not:
Look how poofy his tail is!
- One last cat thing. They’ve been relentless with bugging us in the morning, especially Apollo and Khali. Sigh. I need to get back to dehydrating myself at night so they don’t wake up with me at 3:00 when I pee and think it’s time to eat.
Who, me?
You are so good about your cards and gifts! Well done to being proactive with holiday stuff! I ordered my cards -finally- but still have no idea what to get my kids and a few other people for Christmas!!! Help!!! At least I have a good idea for their “Sinterklaas” gifts for December 6th – I’m going to get them all a gift certificate to the concert venue in Brussels where they all like to go to see concerts. Stefaan and I are seeing a concert there on Saturday, and I plan to pick them up then. Phew.
Thanks! I am trying! 🙂
That sounds like a perfect gift for Sinterklass. Have you seen the original Miracle on 34th St where the young girl can’t speak English and she and Santa sing a song about Sinterklass? Together? That is Steven’s fave xmas movie so he’s always singing about Sinterklass this time of year 😉
I remember seeing that movie years ago but I did not remember that scene – awwww – I just looked it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOJXyqdF3uY
That’s the sinterklaas song all the kids sing here! How cool – thanks for the heads up!
It’s such a great scene. Just watching it made me tear up a bit, lol. You’re welcome for the heads up!
Poor Apollo! That’s quite a bottlebrush he’s got there.
People who walk their dogs offleash (when they’re in an area that dogs are supposed to be leashed) is my #1 runner pet peeve. Last year, I was running on an urban trail and as I came around a corner there was a guy with his largish dog. As he frantically lunges for the dog’s collar he screams, “He’s friendly! He’s friendly!” Uh, yeah, way to sell it there, dude. I had some bad experiences with big dogs as a kid and I’m afraid of them, so even when the owners ‘know they’re friendly’ I certainly don’t know that. And I’m not going to take their word for it.
Anyway, rant over. Happy Thanksgiving!
I know! Poor guy!
Gah, yelling “they’re friendly” as they approach you unleashed does not make anyone feel reassured. And if they are really friendly, that doesn’t mean something might not have set them off (like, I always think, doesn’t me running get them worked up if they aren’t trained?!). I am sorry that happened to you! I told some of my dog owner friends about this and they were appalled the owner allowed that. Sigh. Rant away.
Happy Thanksgiving, too!
Grocery delivery is amazing! I don’t use it as much as I used to, but it definitely saves time!
I am a dog lover, but now that I have dogs that aren’t friendly I’m actually afraid of going up to strange dogs!! I would never let any dog I own be off leash in a non-dog-park area.
It is amazing! And it saves me money since I don’t impulse buy (as much, ha).
I am glad you keep them on leash! I don’t get what the logic is behind NOT doing it. This person wasn’t even in a hurry to tell their dogs to get off me.
You are so ahead of the game for the holidays! I haven’t even started shopping yet, oops. It helps that I don’t have to worry about mailing gifts! I’m waiting to decorate until next week, when I’m home after vacation, because lord knows how the girls are going to interact with all my decorations! Should be interesting.
There’s nothing that annoys me more than people who have their dogs off-leash. That used to happen a lot when I had Dutch because it doesn’t matter if THEIR dog is friendly – Dutch was a crotchety old man. (Also blind and deaf so a huge dog coming up to him out of nowhere was terrifying to him and he’d try to attack them.) Anyway, dogs should not be off-leash unless they are at a dog park. The end.
Oh gosh, yeah, keep me posted on how the girls do! I just put up the garland and Starbuck ate so much she threw up twice. And then I had a temper tantrum because one strand of lights does not work and I broke every bulb but one trying to fix it. I had a little “I hate Christmas” tantrum. Sigh. I really don’t feel up to hosting this year 🙁 Anyway.
Poor Dutch! That must have been so frightening for him!!! 🙁 I agree, keep them off-leash at the dog park or your fenced in home. I really don’t get the logic otherwise.
