This morning someone told me it may snow on Halloween, and yep, it does say that on AccuWeather. Eek!
Where did October go (how is this the LAST October weekend?)? Why are we talking about snow?
Granted, if it does snow, it’s not the type of snow that will stay on the ground. We’ve got some time until that occurs. I think. Fingers crossed.
Normally I welcome snow early and wouldn’t care if it stayed, but we need to get the new garage enclosed before that happens! A lot of people seem nervous about how late in the year we are constructing the garage, and have asked when it will be done. First, don’t be nervous! It will be fine. Second, we always planned to finish it in 2020. Our goal for 2019 is to get it completely enclosed – sheathing and wrap on the walls, and sheathing and shingles on the roof. Our wrap can be exposed to the elements over the winter, and we can finish siding after winter. And our plan was always to have the brick work done in spring 2020. We’ll do more if we have time and good weather.
All that being said, I hope we do have some good weather weekends in November.
We are fully in construction mode at home, which means housework and errands are being ignored, done half-arsed, or done way late. We’re cooking the easiest meals possible when we cook, and we’ve gotten low on groceries way more than we normally would. I’m still managing to do my sentimental tasks (cards, presents, general keeping-in-touch), but the house is not decorated for Halloween, and Christmas is COMPLETELY at the back of my mind… and I think we are hosting this year. Eh, it’ll all work out. It’ll all slow down when we get permanent cold and snow.
I’m also talking about the garage way too much in real life. I think I showed all my coworkers and clients a picture of the trusses this week. Oops. (At least I work in the design/construction industry so it’s kinda up their alley?)
Previous Post: Garage Project: Trusses
It is crazy that it’s already the last weekend of October! It sounds like you have a good plan for the garage. Good luck and fingers crossed for good weather 🙂
Isn’t it though?! Gah. Ha, although while my mind is not ready for Christmas at my house, I am ready for Christmas music and decorations.
Thanks!!!
Hey, I think the trusses are cool so show those pictures with pride!
I am blanking out that it’s the last weekend of October. Things are so different than I thought they would be that I just don’t know about anything anymore. Kind of going along with the flow at this point.
And yeah, you’ll get your Christmas decorating done when you can’t work on the garage…winter is coming. 😉
Thank you! I have been! Hee hee.
Sigh, they really are for you 🙁 Your whole year has been that way. I can’t imagine how off-putting that is. I am really hoping you get normalcy and pain free days soon.
A tree and garland will be enough, right?! 😉
Snow in October??? Wow – I am glad I don’t live in the midwest anymore. I need a nice long fall to help me transition to winter! We’re still having pretty fall days with lots of sunshine and usually never have any snow until December at the earliest, which is fine by me!
I am glad you are not stressing out about the weather causing trouble for your garage build – it sounds like you timed it very well!
I am glad you guys are still having great weather and that you like that the snow doesn’t come until December 🙂
Yeah, there is no point in stressing! I am disappointed we lost a lot of working time yesterday due to a long rain storm and the nail gun jamming a few times. Sigh.
I can’t remember. Do you get trick-or-treaters at your house? If so, I hope the snow doesn’t keep them away (or maybe you do want that?).
I’m glad, but not surprised, that you planned for a long-running project and aren’t rushing and worried about the snow!
(We’re not even building a garage, and our housework and cleaning are half-arsed. Hehe/sob. You’re doing a great job!)
We do not 🙁 And the snow is in the am! I bet it will be gone by evening. It has to be, right? Ha.
Aww, thanks. You saying that makes me feel better. Like who cares if my house is a little messy right now?!
