This morning someone told me it may snow on Halloween, and yep, it does say that on AccuWeather. Eek!

Where did October go (how is this the LAST October weekend?)? Why are we talking about snow?

Granted, if it does snow, it’s not the type of snow that will stay on the ground. We’ve got some time until that occurs. I think. Fingers crossed.

Normally I welcome snow early and wouldn’t care if it stayed, but we need to get the new garage enclosed before that happens! A lot of people seem nervous about how late in the year we are constructing the garage, and have asked when it will be done. First, don’t be nervous! It will be fine. Second, we always planned to finish it in 2020. Our goal for 2019 is to get it completely enclosed – sheathing and wrap on the walls, and sheathing and shingles on the roof. Our wrap can be exposed to the elements over the winter, and we can finish siding after winter. And our plan was always to have the brick work done in spring 2020. We’ll do more if we have time and good weather.

All that being said, I hope we do have some good weather weekends in November.

We are fully in construction mode at home, which means housework and errands are being ignored, done half-arsed, or done way late. We’re cooking the easiest meals possible when we cook, and we’ve gotten low on groceries way more than we normally would. I’m still managing to do my sentimental tasks (cards, presents, general keeping-in-touch), but the house is not decorated for Halloween, and Christmas is COMPLETELY at the back of my mind… and I think we are hosting this year. Eh, it’ll all work out. It’ll all slow down when we get permanent cold and snow.

I’m also talking about the garage way too much in real life. I think I showed all my coworkers and clients a picture of the trusses this week. Oops. (At least I work in the design/construction industry so it’s kinda up their alley?)
