- Has anyone else seen the Downton Abbey movie? We saw it this week and what fun – there were lots of laughs, lots of eye rolling at Edith, and lots of inappropriate gestures made by me to Steven (hee hee). We both enjoyed it, and I’m impressed they made the transition to big screen so deftly. It was like an extended episode, but at an appropriately faster pace, with a touch on everyone’s story. And there was no stupid drama with Mr. and Mrs. Bates, thankfully.
- We have tickets to see Ad Astra next week. I LOVE space movies. But this one has high critic ratings and low audience ratings, which is usually a sign we won’t like it. So we’ll see if we go or not. (We go on $5 ticket night, and we get a refund if we cancel before the show.)
- There are A LOT of movies I want to see yet this year (in the theater) – Ford vs Ferrari, Terminator: Dark Fate, Jumanji: The Next Level, Zombieland: Double Tap. I wonder if Steven wants to see The Current War, after seeing a trailer for that this week. I’m not sure about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. I didn’t care for the last one, or any of the standalone ones, so maybe we’ll wait on that CAT MAKING HOME ALONE FACE. (Yes, Disney has ruined Star Wars for me.)
- I recently went through all of my printed and digital photos looking for pictures with both my mom and dad in them, for their 40th wedding anniversary party. It took me eight hours, but it was a good activity for someone with a cold! It’s kind of nuts to me how I can look back at pictures from high school and still have that icky “what was I thinking?!” feeling. Um, you weren’t an adult, Kim. It’s FINE. Ha.
I ran across this photo of Data from 2012. Gina sent me a gift with that ribbon around it a few years prior to that and Data LOVED that ribbon and our kitty crew still loves it today!
Here’s Starbuck Cooters McScotters Bucatini PewPew OurLastName playing with a ribbon I got on a present this year. They love ribbons!
- GUYS! Last night, I didn’t drink any water with dinner and had a small glass before bed and I DID NOT WAKE UP TO PEE UNTIL 4:50 AM. MIRACLE! I was so shocked when I saw the time when I got up.
- Also, I’d been sleeping so terribly with my cold (lots of fever dreams), that I thought I shook it because I slept better last night and the night before, but it’s definitely still lingering. Meh, that’s how it goes!
Sleep better! did you see Brittany runs a marathon? Very enjoyable easy watch it’s free a bit of a basic feel good kind of movie.
I haven’t seen it yet! It’s not playing close to our home so I may wait for it to come to Amazon. I am excited to see it! 🙂
Boo to the lingering cold. That’s so frustrating. But yay to getting sleep last night! I felt the same way, I didn’t have to get up for the bathroom until 5am and it really felt like a victory 🙂 It’s the little things that make us happy sometimes.
It is! But they always go this way so I have NO idea why I thought I was off the hook so soon! Duh Kim.
YAY! I am glad the same thing happened to you! It did make me so happy to realized I’d (mostly, I did have one cat wakeup) slept through the night 🙂
My mom wants to see the Downton Abby movie but I never watched the show. Will I be completely lost if I see the movie?
I also really want to see Hustlers, mostly for J.Lo. Ha.
Ugh, colds are so unpleasant especially because they always seem to linger! I haven’t had a cold in a while *knock on wood* but it’ll probably knock me out at the worst possible time, like when I have so many deadlines at work and can’t take off!
You won’t be completely lost – you will probably find it charming and want to watch the show. I would recommend watching this recap prior, though! https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2019/09/downton-abbey-movie-tv-show-recap
Hustlers has been doing well, right? I’d like to see it too.
I hope you don’t get one!!!! And that if you do it’s when you have NADA going on (LOLOLOL, when does that happen?!).
I assume you want to see Jumanji because Nick Jonas is in it, right? That’s why I’d want to go 😛 I haven’t been to the movies in a long time, now that I think about it – I don’t even know what’s coming out soon! The past two Star Wars movies, my friends have wanted to go to midnight releases (or like 10 p.m. – still, late), and I’m hoping they will be able to handle waiting until the afternoon of the day of the release or something this time around. Midnight showings are not good for me, especially with my limited interest in Star Wars in general. They got me into Marvel, but Star Wars, not so much. But I’ve never been a sci-fi/space person, so obviously it’s not really up my alley.
Yes totally! 😉 I was surprised he was in the first one – they didn’t advertise that at all!
I hope you can go to the new Star Wars next day too. I used to do midnight showings when I was super in to it, but with the last one I think we waited until *gasp* Sunday. If you can avoid the spoilers, you’ll be fine! And less tired and cranky too 😉
Star Wars – sigh… After the last one, I decided I wasn’t going to go to them anymore. The new ones are just so disappointing…
We see Downton Abbey tonight!!! Edith – I loved her – looking forward to see what she is up to now. 🙂
They are! They can wait for DVD 🙂
What did you think of the movie? Edith is still as whiny as ever! Muah ha ha 😉
We loved the movie! Although we did think that people who hadn’t seen the show would miss out on a lot of the nuance, not knowing the backstory of most of the characters.
Yes, Edith, whiny as ever: poor me, I have to give all those parties and buy fancy dresses, whine whine whine. The best lines went to Granny, of course, and I actually teared up in that last scene between her and Mary when she tells Mary why she went to London, and that it will soon be Mary’s turn to be the “mean old lady in the house” – ha! Can totally see Mary taking over that role!
I love that Tom seemed to be on the verge of finally finding love again – always liked him – and get Granny behind him in it, too!
A bit disappointing that Lord and Lady Grantham didn’t have much of a storyline…but I guess they couldn’t give everyone juicy plot twists or the movie would have had to be another season… Really enjoyed Carson coming back into the house. And the little side plot with Barrow – hmmmm – it wasn’t that much of a shocker, but I did think he gave up his opportunity to be around when royalty were in the house a little TOO easily, didn’t you?
Well as you can tell, I had a lot of thoughts about the movie and was so glad we got to see it. The fun thing was, the theater was completely full and everyone must have been big fans because there was a lot of loud laughing with Granny’s lines. Bad thing was we got soaked walking downtown to get there (but we were dry by the end and then it wasn’t raining anymore). But it was worth it. 🙂
Ha ha, yep, that is why Edith annoyed us so much 😉 Always so whiny. I loved that seen with Granny and Mary too. It was very sweet but still had it’s funny moments. She has so many good lines. I saw some clip with a few of the actors talking about how hard it is not to laugh when she says one of her “zingers”!
I was so confused by the storyline with the lady Tom ends up liking… I so thought they were implying she was that woman’s lover and NOT her daughter. Oops. Glad it worked out for Tom, too.
I was also surprised Barrow gave up being around the royals too! But glad to see him happy!
That’s so fun when the whole audience is in to it like that! Ours was too. And glad you dried out, eek!
Oh, I’m SO relieved there is no Bates drama in the movie. I still haven’t seen it. It might be a rental for us, but I’m really looking forward to it!
I also really cringe at old photos. I guess it’s just natural, even if irrational to do so.
We did not care for that story line. It went on way too long. I think you will like it when you get to see it!
Glad it’s not just me! I hope I don’t cringe at the ones I am in now, in ten years. Ha.
