Notes:
- Eek, if I did NOT run before work this week, I did not run on that work day – there was no time to during lunch, or after work. I think the rest of the month will be that way, so I better get my arse out of bed for some morning runs!
- For some reason this week, I kept getting long hairs (from my head) stuck in my socks and on my sweaty ankles and it was MAKING ME BONKERS. Am I shedding more? Ha.
- The fitness studio I work for held our third annual “Efit Games” on Saturday. There were five teams of three, and eight events – we did events like bucket carry, push-ups, ball toss, slam balls, etc. Every event except the bucket carry was time based to see how many you could get done in that amount of time. Of course, when you do that, especially in a competition, people’s form is more likely to go to crap since they want to get in as many as possible. I tried hard not to have bad form, but my back was so sore Saturday, Saturday night, and Sunday, I could tell I overdid it with the slam balls and burpees. It was difficult to bend over to pick anything up, and to turn over in bed. (I checked my notes after last year’s games – I was sore then too, but not this bad.) So no run for me on Sunday! I went on a walk with Steven instead, and that was challenging enough.
- I’ll run a lot less than usual this month, due to my schedule. I plan to pick it up again in September!
I used to be super sore after a timed competition at my gym too. Lose form? Shoot, I barely have it when I’m not rushing! Hope your back pain is gone tomorrow!
Thanks, I feel a lot better today. I spent a lot of time resting yesterday, and on the heating pad.
And this is why I think timed competitions aren’t the best idea… it’s so hard not to get worked up and over do it!
I enjoy all your training posts – they motivate me. I wish my husband would walk more with me. FYI – his name is Steven also! The issue is whenever we walk I insist on taking the dog and she is “not the best walker”. So it’s either dog or husband! LOL
I am glad you find them motivating! 🙂
Aww, another Steven! Ha, you need to train both of them 😉 Hee hee.
That makes sense about it being hard to keep your form during timed events. I noticed that at body pump sometimes when I was trying to keep up with the instructors but the pace was too fast for me. Hope the soreness goes away soon 🙂
It’s the complete opposite of how I teach – I always have an amount of reps but stress over and over to focus on form and it’s okay to be behind. Back to that!
I feel better today!
