Midweek holidays feel funky. I only get federal holidays off from work*, so a midweek holiday doesn’t necessarily mean a long weekend for me.
But guess what?! I’m cool with that! I will take a random Thursday (or Tuesday, or Wednesday) off! Hells yeah!
I did a long-ish run in the morning, where I saw some interesting things,
read, did laundry, “helped” Steven with a project, and worked on my birthday wishlist! It was a nice, chill day! (only not chill at all since it’s warm and humid)
The highlight of the day was this rainbow that hung around our yard for about thirty minutes. We’re already planning to have some of the yard dug up for our garage, so we think we’ll have them dig up the entire area the rainbow touched, so we can claim our pot of gold. That’s really going to help with paying for the garage! Score!
*for example, no day before/after Independence Day, Black Friday, and usually not Christmas Eve (although Trump gave it to us last year)
I totally agree on the midweek holiday thing. I actually took Wednesday off (to move) and then had Thursday off of course (which is why we moved when we did: two days off for the price of one), but I’m back to work today and have been whining about it all day. Ha. I need to roll over as many PTO days as I can into 2020, so I’m trying to be stingy about the time I take off this year, but it’s sure a nuisance on days like today! Especially since well over half of my team did take the day off, so it’s very quiet today.
What is that creature??? That doesn’t look like something I expect to see in Illinois – or on the road, for that matter!

I hope the move went well! And I hope you were able to get A LOT done today! I sure was. I’ve only had one phone call all day! I love days like this. But yeah, it would be nice to be off. 🙁
It’s a crawdad aka crayfish aka crawfish. I see them a lot on the trails here, but yeah, weird he was on the road.

Ha ha ha, I know! So weird… it was on a trail close to people’s homes. I wonder if kids did it to be “funny”?

I was surprised that my work gave us Friday off. I was going to take it as a PTO day, but I think enough people asked for it off that they just decided to close the office (especially since we only work half-days on Fridays, so it seems kinda silly to open the office for a few people for 3.5 hours!)
