This may deserve more than a bullet point, but I’m a super high-strung person when it comes to my to-do list. As in I cannot relax with there is anything on it. Which is ridiculous. Surprisingly, being so busy at work has taught me to chill the eff out (at times) and really prioritize. I have so much to do, all I can do is start with the most important tasks and go from there. I’d love for this to teach me to be more chill at work, in general. I have a long way to go, though.
In the same vein (re: prioritization), Steven was telling me about the 80/20 rule, which starts with the Pareto Principle that “for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.” 80% of wealth is held by 20% of people, 80% of land is held by 20% of people, 80% of sales come from 20% of clients, etc. It can also be applied to say 20% of your activities account for 80% of your results… so what the hell are you doing with that other 80% of activity time? So if you apply the “rule” to your work life, it encourages you to cut down on the 80% activities you’re wasting your time on, and focus on the 20% stuff. I told Steven I am mostly an 80%er. Ha.
One more work complaint – what is with people outside of my organization sending me invites for a random meeting time without discussing it with me? I am in lots of meetings. Ask me when I am free.
We learned Euchre (the card game) with Jen and Troy and Troy’s parents last week. It’s a fun and quick game, and I liked it! I definitely need to play more to get better though, ha!
Was anyone else sad when they saw the trailer for the new Jumanji and saw that the game characters are not the same as the last movie (as in, the same people didn’t transport in to the same characters in the game)? I am not super excited about Dwayne Johnson playing Danny DeVito (although it seems many are!). Maybe it will be funny?!
We finished Veep last week! Man, Selina just got worse and worse as the seasons went on! Yikes! Now we’re re-watching the first season of Big Little Lies so we can watch the second. And I know Stranger Things 3 drops today! I wasn’t as in to the second season. Maybe I’ll like the third…?
I rely on lists for everything but dang, my brain is so scrambled that I can’t focus enough to work my way through them. It’s frustrating – I like the checkmarks (and the fact that whatever I needed to accomplish, I did). I feel your work pain.
As for Veep, wow. Selina left a trail of fire and seeing what she did to Gary was tear-jerking. I really liked that show in the beginning years, but it was hard to watch later on as Selina became so bad.

I love lists too. Does your brain feel scrambled from your pain meds? That’s so frustrating!
I feel the exact same way about the show. She was more likable (and the show less cutthroat, imo) in the beginning and then it was just a train wreck. I hated how she treated Gary, and her daughter. And everyone.
A lot of people weren’t as into the second season of Stranger Things. Too forced and took too long to kick in. Plus, WTF was the point of that Billy character (Max’s “brother”)?
I hope the time off will make season three better. Hey, you can only have one sophomore slump, right?

I remember I didn’t care for the side story of kids that Eleven (I think?) left and lived with for a while, too. Oh Billy. I had forgotten about him!
The kitty on the floor looks like a mini kitty from that perspective! (I can’t tell which one it is – I need to see their paws to tell the difference between Starbuck and Apollo!) Such cuties 🙂
I’m bad Michigander because I never really learned how to play Euchre, and it’s a pretty popular card game in Michigan (though according to Wikipedia, it’s popular throughout the Midwest). I played once or twice, but I kept having to have the rules explained to me, and most of the time when people wanted to play, they wanted to just play, not walk through the rules for the duration of the game (this was in high school). Though that’s really how I am with most card games these days – I’ve forgotten most of the rules since I haven’t played cards in a very long time!

It’s Starbuck! And she is miniature! Ha, you can’t really see their defining features from this pic!
Ahh cool, I didn’t know it was an MI thing. If you wanted to learn, I bet there is a group of people that would have the patience to teach you! Card games are HARD to remember the rules to if you don’t play them all the time (I don’t!!!!).
I didn’t realize you watched BLL! We should discuss! (I binged the first season in like…two days. Harrison was very stressed by it.)
In the “Jumanji 2” trailer, did it sound like Danny Devito and Donald Glover were doing voice overs for the Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart? I couldn’t tell, even though I watched it a few times, and now I’m curious.

Let’s discuss! We just watched episode 2 of season 2. I feel like the music is less pretentious this season. Still stick of all the flashbacks.
It didn’t to me! I thought it was Johnson and Hart doing their best impression of their voices? Meh, still disappointed about this, ha.
Hi! I’m Kim, a 40-something-year-old living in northeastern Illinois with my husband Steven, and our cats, Khaleesi, Apollo, Starbuck, and Eddard aka Ned. My current main hobbies are running, painting rocks, flying, reading, and eating. I follow a vegan lifestyle and am employed by the federal government. I write about a variety of topics and consider this a “life” blog – a place I can share anything that’s on my mind. Please visit the “About” page to get a better idea of who I am! 🙂

Yes, one of the meds is scrambling my brain. The one I’m supposed to take for at least a year, yay.
Oh and I did get your TY – so glad you liked the card! 🙂
I’m sorry. 🙁 I hope it’s helping the rest of the ways it’s supposed to, to make it “worth” that.
It’s such a cute card! Totally a keeper!!!!
