- Mica and Harrison are in town and we got to have dinner with them last night! Yay! We laughed so much and had a great time. I love our conversations with them and wish we could see them more!
- Ugh, when I first met up with them, I was completely frazzled from being in an all day work meeting, and coordinating Steven’s arrival to the city while he was driving. I was TOTALLY scatter-brained, and I HATE that. I’m glad that once we were all together, I could be 100% in the moment. I HATE HATE HATE how my work load is making me so brain dead each night.
- I’m sure I’m completely in the minority, but I am loving these cool days we’re having in June. Being able to wear jeans is great. I know it will get nasty humid soon, and I appreciate the cool weather while we have it!
- We found out this week that my parents are able to stay for almost a full week when they visit for the Rolling Stones concert. Yay! We’re so excited!
- I finished Educated. I… enjoyed it? I was definitely in to it, but it’s hard to say I enjoyed it since the story is mostly about emotional and physical abuse. I was very intrigued by it. I’m curious about Tara’s adult life story. She tells a bit of it in her mention of her college years, but I wonder how she is dealing with (SPOILER ALERT) being estranged from most of her family now.
- Now I’m reading Running Home, the new memoir by Outside Magazine contributing author and ultra marathoner Katie Arnold. I’m struggling to get in to this one. I’ve been really tired on the nights I’ve tried to read it, and a lot of the text is very descriptive, bordering on “I am going to abandon this because you’re spending too long describing a trail” descriptive. The memoir is about her father’s death, within months of the birth of her second child, and the anxiety she feels after that happens (I haven’t gotten to that part yet, but she mentioned that in a podcast). We’ll see if I finish it!
- Sigh, the weird library renewal issues continue. I got a text Monday that Running Home was due tomorrow (Friday), when before, it had two renewal options. I requested another copy, then checked my account later in the day, and sure enough, my two renewal options were back, so I used one. I am going to ask the librarian what is up with this! It’s really messing up my reading flow, and quite frankly, pissing me off.

Its been very cool here too (except for a mini heatwave this weekend) and I’ve been loving it!
Awesome! That’s a nice break for you guys!
I’m 100% with you on the weather. I pretended to be outraged over the fact that the Real Feel was in the 40s this morning, but I’m not actually upset about it at all. I’d be fine with this weather all summer! We haven’t had to turn the air on once yet, and I’d be perfectly happy keeping it that way all year.
I would love it too! Cool mornings, somewhat warm midday? Sure! Sign me up!
We’ve been having cooler weather and I am all for it! Sorry about the brain dead stuff, it’s sad that something you enjoy, like reading at night, is getting affected because of it. Hope things get less stressy at work, and soon. Can you listen to books, like on Audible? That might help – at least you’d get some books “read” although unless I’m driving or cleaning, I fall asleep too fast while listening to books.
Yay! I am so glad you have been!
It is sad it’s affecting that 🙁 I could try an audible book! I only seem to be able to pay attention to talking (on headphones) when I walk or run, but I could listen to that on a long run instead of podcasts!
So I may not read Educated after all! Ha! I like the cooler temps although yesterday it was actually too cold. I started a new job yesterday and my boss is off so I am taking advantage of it by reading blogs! Have a wonderful weekend,
Have a great weekend too! Hope you are liking the new job!
It was so good to see you, and no need to apologize for being frazzled. (Totally understandable given your current situation and not at all noticeable to us.) Thank you for making time to see us and for being the best rideshare drive! 10 stars for Steven!
Thanks for understanding!!!! I will tell Steven he got 10 stars!
We’ve had a super rainy week here and I am LOVING it. Every day it’s been gloomy and rainy! I don’t want this weather ALL the time but it’s been nice this week.
I felt the same about Educated! I can’t say I enjoyed reading about all the abuse and trauma she suffered (and I got so frustrated by how many times she returned to her family!) but it was a well-written book and truly engaging.
I hope your library can figure out what’s going on with their renewal system!
That sounds like a lovely break from your usual weather!!!
Exactly that. I got frustrated with all the returns too. I think she really showed us how much of an alternative reality/story they created though – I can see why she was so confused and didn’t trust her memories anymore.
Me too! GAH. It’s making me nuts. As you knew 😉
