I had three instances of instant kinship yesterday. Three! That’s nuts! I saved the best one for last:
ONE
I met some alumni from my university. Cool beans! They graduated in the late 80s (I graduated in 2007) and it was fun to talk about campus for a bit.
TWO
I saw a runner on the road by our house!!! INSERT CAT MAKING HOME ALONE FACE. Every time this happens I immediately think “I’m not alone! Other people run out here too!” then “be my friend!” (Lots of people bike around my house, but runners are rare.)
THREE
On Wednesday a coworker I don’t see much commented on our cats’ pictures on my notebook so yesterday I was asking about her cats then we gushed about cats for five minutes AND THEN I found out she does the same thing with her boyfriend that Steven and I do – send a series of zoomed in pictures of our cats to each other until it’s just a close up of their face.
It’s the most amazing thing ever
That was more that instant kinship. It was like a Step Brothers “Did we just become best friends?!” moment. I THINK WE DID. We are now following each other on Instagram and sending each other cat emojis at work. Yay!
I liked the new Taylor Swift song “You Need to Calm Down” instantly the first time I heard it, and have been listening to it on repeat. I love the beat, the “oh-oh”s, AND the message of the song! And I actually like the video, which is rare for me with music videos. (Thanks to Dave for posting about it, which made me watch it!)
Yay for that feeling for instant connection! Those photos zooming in on the cat’s face are great. I haven’t seen that Taylor Swift video yet, I keep hearing about it and really need to check it out.
Do you and Mike do it?
Let me know if you like it!
We haven’t done it yet but I’m thinking we shoudl start π
Yassssssssssssssss
Hahaha, I didn’t realize you did the zoom-in photo thing with Steven. That’s hilarious! I love a good cat “blep” face!
I will def send you the next good one!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for instant kinship!!!
And thanks for sharing the video – yes, the message is really important and I loved how there were the little cameos of the Queer Eye guys and Ellen…among others. Cool!
You’re welcome! I think the message is important too. Of course, people are criticizing it, that she is grouping her “haters” with gay rights and making things seem so light, but you know what? I think that’s a good way to get the message out and get people thinking.
I love that third story! So fun to bond with a coworker over your cats. It’s so nice to be with someone who “gets it” in terms of being obsessed with your pets. π
YES! That is what it was! It’s nice to have someone who gets that since I don’t have human kids to talk about LOL
It really is awesome to connect with someone so quickly…and it almost falls into the “can this really be happening?” wonderment, because it happens so rarely!
I send extreme closeups of our cat and dog to Jeff and the kids at completely random times. I like to think it makes their day. π
Yes! That is what it was! It’s such a good feeling!
I bet it does. It makes my day when Steven does it.
Yay instant kinship! The one about the person from your university particularly resonated with me, because the other day, I was looking for a doctor in the suburbs, found a practice that sounded like what I needed, and when I was looking through the doctors at the practice, I saw one was from Michigan. I was like, “Oh, well that’s a good enough reason to try her out,” AND THEN I saw that she got her undergrad at the same place I did, so I was like, “Well, now she’s DEFINITELY at the top of my list! I’ll have something to talk to her about!” Haha.
That is awesome! I hope you are able to get an appointment with her!!!
