Today is Global Running Day! Go celebrate, however you see fit!

But after that, it’s time to focus. There’s a much more important made-up holiday around the corner. That’s right folks – this Friday June 7th is National Doughnut Day! Don’t let your running enthusiasm linger so long that you forget to plan out your Friday donut consumption schedule. THIS IS SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Ha ha ha.

Now let’s talk about french fries.

In my mind, Global Running Day was associated with National French Fry Day, because I often went out to eat french fries, instead of running, on Global Running Day. I actually said to Steven last weekend “Global Running Day is next week! But you know what equally, if notΒ more important holiday is the same week?! National French Fry Day!”

This is false news, folks. National French Fry Day is July 13th. I was a few weeks off with that one.

But Steven and I started talking about french fries and what place we think has the best fries. I could think of a lot of places that had mediocre fries (which I would still eat, of course) and decided that the fries I like best are Arby’s curly fries. Delish. I love me a spicy fry. And they have the perfect soft to crispy ratio.

But I feel like this is something I should look in to more closely. I’m going to be a more conscious french fry consumer and judge from now on, so I can truly pick my FAVORITE french fry.

Shortly after we had that discussion, Steven came across an article* (pdf here) rating french fries from eight chains, based on a 1-to-5 scale in the following categories: crispiness, flavor, mouthfeel, and salt. The winner left me SHOOK. CRINKLE CUT FRIES? WHUT?! NO. (But actually, I need to try them and see if they’re as good as the author thinks!)

And you guessed it, a poll! Tell me which fries are your favorite from the list in the article, or, select “other” and tell me in the comments which place they so rudely neglected to include!

*Ha, the timing of the article still made me think National French Fry Day was this week. I thought it was until I looked it up to write this post! THE LIES WE TELL OURSELVES, FOLKS!
