I know it’s not just me!
This month has been crazy. LOTS of fun things, for sure, but work is also bananas, so if you’re trying to correspond with me and my response is delayed, or doesn’t make sense, or I am short with you, I apologize! My brain is a scrambled mess! All weekend, I couldn’t get words out of my mouth. Or really, in my brain, to begin with.
But let’s talk about the fun things!
As you know, I loved checking in on Bobbi’s cats while she was out of town in Florida with her family from June 1-8! I sure miss them. I bet the feeling is COMPLETELY mutual. Ha. Ha ha ha. Not.
I ran all over on Friday. Well, drove all over. I did zero running but put over 200 miles on my car. I taught class at 5:00 am, fed the kitties, got home to get ready for a Memorial Mass, picked someone up for the mass, went to mass (very far away from home), met a coworker on maternity leave to meet her new baby (!!!!), went to my manicure appointment (I love the color I got, How Does Your Zen Garden Grow?, see photo below), fed the kitties, picked up a grocery order, picked up dinner, then cleaned the house. Ahhh.
On Saturday, xaarlin and her husband stopped by the house (yay!) on their way to Milwaukee, and their dog Hampton got to “meet” the kitties! Xaar also got to play the light reflection game with Apollo through the window (he’s a big fan of this game).
Then we met them later in Milwaukee for a late lunch at Café Benelux (which apparently, will not serve their Impossible Burger until 3:00 pm, even if you try to order at 2:35 pm, FYI). After lunch, we hit up On The Bus, a completely vegan store inside the public market. Steven and I have been wanting to check it out and it was right across the street. The ice cream was delish and I can’t wait to go back and eat more (ice cream and other things on the menu)!
Steven and I had fun and regretted not getting a photo of the five of us! Duh. Sigh.
We ran errands on the way home – we had to stock up on alcohol for tailgating the next day! I sent Rachel a picture of all our “girly” drinks:
This will last us the entire summer. I did NOT put all this in our tailgating cooler, ha.
On Sunday, we left in the late am to tailgate then attend the Brewers/Pirates game! Rachel and I were talking about going to the Saturday game, when she found out a coworker had free tickets to the Sunday game he couldn’t use. The tickets were in the bleacher section of right field and included drinks and food! Thanks for the tickets, L!
It was fun to see the game from a perspective I haven’t before! The only bad part was not being able to see the huge scoreboard.
Of course I got a vegan hot dog… or two. NOM. I love hot dogs.
We had a great time with Rachel and Kevin, and really appreciated them sharing those tickets with us!
We were both so sleepy on the drive home and were falling asleep on the couch at 7:45 pm so we called it early and were in bed by 9:00! That’s what two fun days in Milwaukee with good friends will do to ya!
And work has been bonkers so far this week, and will continue to be so I feel a bit out of sorts AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
No, it’s not just you! Busy here too!!! But sounds like you had a lot of fun and ate some good food…
…but why won’t they serve the Impossible Burger til 3pm???
They wouldn’t say why! I even called that am to make sure they had them in stock – you’d think they would have warned me then!
That is really lame! Boo!!!
I want to go to On the Bus just to see the cool way they are using an old VW bus!
You will not be surprised when I tell you I’m not busy, ha. It’s ok though. I will live voraciously through your activities. 🙂
It was so neat! We were telling our friends about how we wanted to go there, and they mentioned a chain in Brazil that does something similar 🙂
I am wishing some busyness your way, soon! :-*
Well, now I need to go to Milwaukee ASAP. Cafe Benelux?!?! I’m sure their menu mentions it, but Benelux is Belgium + the Netherlands + Luxembourg, and since I am wholly obsessed with the Bene part of Benelux after my trip to Europe (though I’m sure I’d like Luxembourg too if I had gone there), obviously a lowlands restaurant would be RIGHT up my alley! I looked at their website, and apparently there are several lowlands restaurants in the area?!?! brb moving to Milwaukee instead of the suburbs. I would live in those restaurants!
Oh wow! I did not know that is why it was called that! I figured it was just Belgian-inspired! Get yourself up there! To all the restaurants!
LOL, MKE is pretty fab 🙂 <3
That is SO STRANGE that they don’t sell the Impossible Burger until 3pm. And they should have totally accommodated you since it was so close to the time! Tsk, tsk!
I feel very busy lately and I don’t like it! I do not thrive on being busy but that’s summer for you, I guess. May sneak in a mental health day soon to combat the busyness!
I think so too! So she came back later, after we told her we’d wait to order, and was like “Well, I can get your order now so I can place it right at 3:00!” And we thought okay, great. Then we didn’t get our food until close to 3:30. Ha. Luckily, we had an app, and were enjoying being outside and chatting but GEESH.
I do not either!!!! I can do one sorta busy day on the weekend and need one chill day. Def take that mental health day!!!!
That’s so awesome that you got to go with friends to the game! I think it’s definitely more fun to go with friends to sporting events. And I’m glad you got your vegan hot dog. I recently learned from a Chicago native that she does not like ketchup on her hot dog. Have you heard this before living in the area?
I just read an article that Bay Area Burger Kings are getting the Impossible Burger. I’m really excited to try it!
I hadn’t heard of the no ketchup rule before moving to Chicagoland! But they really drill it in once you’re here.
Oh cool! I know they started at the BKs in StL. I am glad they are already implementing them. I hope you can get one before they run out. Impossible is selling to so many places and they can’t keep up, so a lot of them are out (like Red Robin, who is back on our S list, for saying they had them when we called then not really having them when we got there.).
