- The cats had another wonderful staycation with their sitter. They’re missing her a lot, and keep asking about her, and if we’ll send her the “biscuits” they’re making. Sigh.
They don’t even greet us at the door like that!
- We got the cats a new feather toy right before our trip. The toy ended up being a HUGE hit and they play with it obsessively. I went to Target to stock up (even though they’re cats and will soon lose interest) because they have a tendency to destroy these things (I’ve already glued the feathers back in twice!).
- I did a mobile order for in-store pickup of the feather toys as soon as we landed in Chicago on Sunday (ha, priorities). I had issues with the name on the account Monday during pickup (the email said it would be under Steven’s name, but it was under my maiden name), and of course, the lady helping me was the lady who helped me exchange two damaged cans of cat food a week ago… I bet I’m her favorite crazy cat lady customer! But, the goods are acquired, phew.
- We brought the cats back some handcrafted Saskatchewan-artisan catnip toys and I thought they wouldn’t be in to them because the feather is so hot right now, but they were/are! So funny they all like catnip – It did nothing for Data! These three rub their faces all over it and go nuts.
- We all had an exciting morning. Khali and I were having a 3:45 am pet sesh (a little better than the 2:00 am one yesterday?) when we heard a horrible cracking noise and I looked outside to see this GINORMOUS branch falling to the ground (you can’t tell from the photos, but that is the largest/tallest tree in our yard). Totally creepy. Totally freaked the cats. So happy Khali was lying on my stomach when that happened, ha.
This is an old pic from May 13, 2016, with the branch that fell circled. The tree in the foreground (middle of yard) is no longer there.Β
And here is a really horrible photo from this morning, showing where the branch was. It’s so nice to have some green in our yard, finally!
- And lastly, I wanted to share the Mother’s Day card Apollo and Starbuck sent their mom, Athena. Ha.
Omg that mother’s day card is so sweet!! I bet Athena was so happy to receive it. π₯°
Thanks! I think so! I saw it on display in her house! <3
(You inspired me with the card you helped Data with a few years ago!)
Cats are so funny with the cat nip. Perry loves the stuff, rubs his face all over it, and ends up acting pretty stoned. Shelby doesn’t seem to care for it at all. She’ll just sniff it and then move away. The incident with the tree branch sounds pretty scary! Glad it didn’t hit anything.
I wonder why some are immune! I guess it’s just like how all humans aren’t in to the same thing. Oh Perry!!! LOL!
Gah, me too! Luckily it fell in to the forest!
For not having thumbs, Apollo and Starbuck have very impressive handwriting! π
Don’t they though? They may have had help from their big sister!
Oh the cats! I missed them while you were in Canada!
Aww, thanks! π
Haha, that’s the exact feather toy I got for Eloise when I had just adopted her! It’s what prompted her to finally come out from under my bed, so it has a special place in my heart. The feather is now destroyed but I kept the extender because it’s fabulous at helping me “sweep” out any toys that have been batted underneath my TV stand. π
Giggling at the card from Apollo and Starbuck. What sweet kitties. <3
Aww! That is so awesome that this is the toy!!! We have a grabber we use to get all the toys that go under the couches. I cleaned it out before we went on our trip – 25 toys down there! Ha!
