Notes:

  • I loved running in Saskatoon! The Meewasin Trail that runs along both sides of the river through the middle of town is great. It’s mostly paved, with some crushed stone parts. On Wednesday, I took it up the river then went off it for a bit to get some more miles in and ended up on a single track dirt trail for about two miles. I ended up bonking and the last five miles were a struggle but I still enjoyed seeing so much of the city!
  • On Thursday I went to two local conservation areas and ran on the beautiful single track sand/dirt trails there. Running on single track really made me want to be running with my trail buddy, Rachel! It also made me think that whoa, I could NOT do any endurance event on that kind of trail right now. I’m ready for endurance on a wider crushed stone trail, sure, but not anything TOO technical!
  • On Friday I ran in the neighborhood to the east of our hotel. It looks like it’s a newer development, and I appreciated getting a chance to do a “suburban” run, too.
  • Saturday I ran from our hotel to the university, around there a bit, then back down to our hotel, through a slight detour downtown. Again, I loved how much of the city I got to see on foot!
  • We walked a lot, every day, while in Saskatoon, too. (I only included the two conservation area walks above, though.)
  • I thought I might sneak in a short run on Sunday evening to shake out my legs from flying all day, but we ended up spending a lot of time sitting around on the airplane on our second flight, so no time for that!
