- I am currently reading The Goldfinch per Bethany’s recommendation! She mentioned how long it was (my copy is 900+ pages!), so I started it to coincide with our May travel, so I only have to bring one book with me on our trips. I’m enjoying it!
- Our Canada trip is SOON! Steven’s been getting a lot of the logistics set up this week (we already had airfaire and a hotel) like phones, rental car, car insurance, money, etc. We’ve been so busy we haven’t planned out much, but I do have a Saskatoon “wish list” of things to see, do, and of course, eat!
- Sometimes when I’m getting dressed for work and think my outfit looks a bit funky/off I say to myself “whatever, I’m the designer, this goes with the job title!” Ha.
- Local folks, be warned – you cannot park your car within 15′ of a crosswalk in Wisconsin! I parked in the street in Milwaukee last night and came back to a parking ticket. There was no signage about the 15′ law; I somehow needed to know the parking prohibitions of the Wisconsin state legislature (see section 346.53) (I presume not having Illinois plates would help this situation, as well). Other laws: you can park 10′ from a fire hydrant (unless signs prohibit it), and you must give 4′ to an entrance to an alley or private drive. TMYK. (Funny thing, Steven and I parked in this spot once before and parked WAY closer to the crosswalk – I guess we lucked out that time.)
But is that truck 10′ from the hydrant?!
- Do you ever get randomly excited about new music you haven’t heard yet? I do. I find new favorite songs every month or so, and it’s so exciting to think about all the new music I haven’t heard yet!
Parking tickets are such a bummer, especially when you thought you were following the rules π
I like your funky outift! It looks very creative – and since you have a creative job… And please let us know how you like The Goldfinch because that book has been on my radar for a long time…
Right! But I was NOT! Now I know and have been telling everyone I know who goes to WI. The people I’ve told who live there didn’t even know.
Thanks! I am liking the book! I think you would like it π
Ooh, I didn’t realize you had a Canada trip coming up. Is it for fun?
I don’t get excited about new un-heard music exactly, but when I’m on planes, sometimes I listen to the random albums that they provide in the “LISTEN” section of the interface. I just found a new folk guitarist that I liked on the way back from London, and that was pretty neat.
The first two days Steven is in a conference, then we have two days of fun! Well, four days of fun for both of us, really. He is super excited about his conference!
Oh cool! Are you going to look them up and get some of their music?
That’s such a smart idea to start The Goldfinch since it means you’ll only have to bring one book on your trip! I’m so intimidated by that book’s length that I haven’t ever given it a try. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
It totally was intimidating me but I am actually really in to it and wanting to read more but am kind of saving it for the trip! So yeah, liking it so far! π
I am currently reading 26 Marathos by Meb ` at your recommendation. My brother in law is visiting RIGHT NOW from Silicon Valley. He is an ironman and marathoner. I asked him if he knows Meb, and he does. So cool
That is so awesome that he knows him! What do you think of the book?
I can’t wait to hear what you think of The Goldfinch! Spoiler for a future blog post from me: when we went to The Hague in the Netherlands, I saw the actual painting of The Goldfinch! One of the highlights of the trip for sure. I spent so much time reading that darn book – I had to see the painting it was about!
OMG that is so cool that you found it! So he finally gives it up! Ha. I just got to the part where he stores it at the gym equipment storage facility. It’s a good book. I am surprised how polarized the reviews of it are on Goodreads!
