Notes:
- This week was such a blur. Work was nuts but I wanted to fit in a much running as I could before we traveled to Dallas (Friday-Sunday), where I just did short runs. I felt great on my runs, but am mentally exhausted.
- My second run on Wednesday was my 100th of the year! I typically hit my 100th run of the year the first week of May.
- You can probably tell from the collage that the beginning of the week was rainy and gloomy. I love running in that kind of weather, but that many days in a row got to me. I was moody because of work on Thursday’s run, then became emotional and almost had a breakdown in the park when I saw some goslings, and that the drinking fountains were finally on. Sigh.
- I was glad to run in the sun in Dallas (and I heard the sun finally came out in Chicagoland, too, yay). On Sunday I ran in a new-to-me park and it was such a treat to run somewhere NEW (I didn’t realize I was in a rut with my runs until I ran someplace new). I stuck to the paved path but the park had a lot of trails that I’d love to check out someday.
- Monthly recap! In April I ran 193.5 miles (25 runs), and biked 25 miles (2 indoor rides). My coldest run was 34°F and my warmest was 79°F. I taught 10 strength classes, and 2 fitness boxing classes.
Sounds like you had a lot of runs where you felt good this week! I’m with you on the running rut, I’ve been doing a lot of runs in my neighborhood or my friend’s neighborhood recently. I need to get out to some of the running trails for a change of scenery.
Did it help when you ran around the National Mall last week?
It did! But it also made me realize how tired I was of running the same area over and over and how much more fun it was to run somewhere scenic.
It totally is. It would be a nice indulgence to do a run like that a few times a month!
Its so refreshing to run somewhere new. I’ve been having real motivation problems but took a route I never run on Sunday and felt so much better
Ahh, I am glad it helped! What do you think is up with the motivation problems besides route rut?
