I’ve had to do a lot more of this at work lately –
– ignore my personal phone because I need to FOCUS! I’ve had so many submittals (plans, programs, etc.) to review (and so many meetings, of course). I don’t have noise or vibration notifications turned on on my phone (EVER), but just seeing them pop up on the screen is too much of a distraction. It makes me anxious. So turned over, it is.
(I’ve been doing this more in my personal time too – leaving my phone in another room so I can focus on whatever I am/we are doing. I am ignoring you, but not for any bad reason!)
I have a coworker who is unfailingly positive and optimistic and NOT in an annoying way. Amazing, right? I NEED TO KNOW HER SECRETS. We have lunch tomorrow so I can pick her brain.
Which is more annoying, the person who gets on a conference call too early, or too late? I’m a fan of punctuality, but I am NOT good at conference call small talk with multiple parties. A lot of weather is discussed.
My energy levels tank hard after lunch. I’d probably do better with eating for half of break then going on a walk for the second half, but it’s fun to watch TV with Steven (we just started Veep).
Work is okay enough but I am totally counting down the days until our Canada vacation in May! I need a break from being “on” all the time.
Updated to add – I just remembered I get to check out the NEW Starbucks at work tomorrow! The one my coworkers and I go to is inside the building across the street and it moved from that location to a bigger location in the same building but on the street corner. Exciting!!!
Also updated to add – I just remembered I have my mid year review with my boss tomorrow. I wonder how brutally honest I’ll be this year.
Ugh, I feel the same way about work right now. It’s been so busy! I am soooo looking forward to having a week and a half break from it all. 2 more days to get through!
You’re so close! I hope you can completely shut off and enjoy!
The early/late meeting attendee thing reminded me: We use Zoom at work, and the last person in the meeting at the end becomes the “host” of the meeting. It doesn’t matter, but my team always RACES off the call (like mid-“Bye-bye!”) so as not to be made the host. It’s really goofy, but I enjoy the personal challenge of it.
Glad you’re setting some boundaries with your phone. It sounds like it’s working and making you less anxious!
LOL! Why does the last person become the host?! What does that mean? That is funny!
It’s really helping! Especially when doing the important task of watching movies!
I wish I could write more freely about work, however I have shared my blog with coworkers! My coworkers are wonderful; it’s the bosses I cannot take. The bosses don’t know about the blog, but still. . . I applied for two lateral transfer opportunities yesterday (I work for the government) – so keeping my energy positive for a good change.
It’s tricky, right? I try to be vague but also write things that I would share with anyone at work. I’m sorry about your bosses. I hope you get one of those transfers! Do you work for federal, state, or local govt?
I had to laugh at your conference call comment – I was the first person to a conference call on Friday, and wouldn’t you know it, the first thing the organizer said after “Hello,” was, “I wish it would stop raining soon!” Ha!
It’s an easy go to!!! And I kind of wish it would stop raining here. Although it seemed to have when I was gone over the weekend π
