Notes:
- I wrote a long(ish) cheesy post on Instagram Tuesday about how I love running early in the morning – “I don’t do it often, but I love starting my runs in the dark. The dark cocoons me and I forget distance and pace and focus solely on the quiet and my surroundings. When the sun comes up the work begins and anything I’ve already run feels like a bonus.❤️” The reason I don’t do it often is because I NEED MY SLEEP. I function best on at least seven hours and I don’t get that if I get up early to run. It’s not worth burning the candle at both ends to get those early runs in as often as I’d like! But yeah, I love them when I do.
- Ha, Steven got a dip machine thing and I “used” it for a few seconds Tuesday and that night my abs felt like they were ripped apart. They felt that way on my Wednesday run, too!
- I’ve been so used to having my watch screen covered during the cold weather that it’s odd when it’s not now! I end up looking at it too much (for what mile I am in, I don’t have pace shown unless I am doing speedwork), so I turn the face of it to time of day or the music screen. Then my splits are a surprise later.
- Ugh, I had time to run Friday but the wind was in the 20s with gusts in the 30s and I was already super stabby from grocery shopping (I’ve been burned trying to grocery shop on Easter so I thought I was being smart going Friday… no, everyone was out on Good Friday…), so I went on a walk with Steven instead.
- Gosh, as slow as podcasts make me run at the beginning of my long runs, I really feel like I am flying when I switch over to music for the end, like I did Saturday!
- We did an “Easter” themed boxing workout with an egg hunt (the workouts we did were in the eggs) and some goodie baskets at the end. I love doing that cheesy stuff. And my students seem to like it!
- A cyclist went by me Sunday (on the opposite side of the road) and turned to give me a thumbs up! Woot! I love it when the cyclists I see are friendly (I have some bad encounters, mostly when they’re in big groups).
- I don’t think I will be racing a 5K next month. I haven’t been doing speedwork, or making much of an effort with my diet (I need to lose weight to run faster). And I am soooooo okay with that!
- Why am I running so many miles? Because I want to do a long trail run along the river when we are on vacation next month! And because I love to run a lot of miles.
- I took the past two Mondays off running and I am hoping to run tomorrow and get back to my Wednesday rest day! It feels so weird not to start my week with a run!
