I completely forgot to talk about the RAGBRAI XLVII route announcement from last Saturday! Oops!
The course is going through the southern half of Iowa. Dad, Gina, and I typically ride the last day, Day 7, and this year it goes from Burlington to Keokuk (this year’s course is unique in that it has TWO Mississippi River stops, in Burlington and Keokuk). Keokuk is as far south as you can get in Iowa!
Day 7 will be a 62 mile ride, with 1,725 feet of elevation gain. It looks like it goes right along the river, so maybe there will be some neat views! Sounds fun to me!
That 3.5 hour drive after, to where we are staying Saturday night? Err… not as fun. Ha ha. But worth it. We always have a great time, even with how crazy it can be to logistically set up riding the last day!
Another mailbox update! The township replaced it yesterday with a new plastic box. Awesome! I hope that lasts us a while. Cross your fingers!
I bet it’s going to be really pretty to ride along the river – but it sounds hilly, too! Where are you staying Saturday night and why so far?
Hooray for the new mailbox – hope it survives the rest of winter…
After the ride we always go to Guttenberg, IA, where my family has cabins on the river. It’s in northeast, IA, so this is basically as far away as you can get from it! We looked at a hotel for Saturday night but I think we’re just going to go to Guttenberg 🙂
Gah, I hope it does too.
